I saw a clip of the race today! There was this one wild moment where a car lost its WHEEL! It went flying off. The car dived into the pit. Luckily the driver maintained control. He went in and his team put on a new wheel.

Meanwhile the tire caused a caution flag, slowing down the race.

The really underpaid car crew managed to put the new wheel on faster than spit. The car raced out of the pit and passed the tire, still rolling, on the way out!

The driver, Kurt Busch, didn't lose a lap! And he won the Championship Cup!!!!!
(he placed fifth in today's race)

:D

Tom those pit crew guys are very well paid for the work that they do. As for Kurt busch wining the championship for this year, it should have gone to Dale Earnhardt, Jr or Mark Martin. Those two guys are class acts!

oh well I guess its time to start watching UConn Basketball now that the Nascar season is over!:D

 True! I actually never heard of Kurt Busch before this. I haven't followd Nascar for a few years.

I actually like...gasp...Jeff Gordon! Oh...I know you probably hate him. For some reason, Earnhardt and Martin fans HATE him.

:duck:

Gordo is actually my favorite. I've noticed my feelings tend to be opposite most racing fans :D

They usually don't like the fact that this young new kid had that winning streak.

:nervous:

no Tom its not that. What makes me dislike him so much is that when he doesn't win or when his car is collected in an accident, he whines about it. When he hits someone he claims that he didn't do nothing wrong that the other person was at fault, not him. But don't let anyone else hit him, then the water works come on!

I'm just suprised that Rusty Wallace is going to retire at the end of the next season!

Mark or Rusty? Rusty is retiring outright and Mark is going to the Truck series for a while before he hangs up the helmet for good (according to jayski.com).

Why do Martin fans dislike Jeff Gordon? Gordon is arrogant, snobbish, and whines when things don't go his way. Mark comes across as humble and just glad to be there. (At least to me.)

Wouldn't it be cool if Mark or Rusty won the Cup next year? Nothing like retiring when you're on top of the world.

I am a long time Rusty fan. My mom is a fan of Mark's. I guess I am going to either root for Dale Jr or Kevin Harvick after Rusty is gone.

whd, you are soooooo right about Gordon! That is him right to a "T"!
