its a horribly unaerodynamic design with no apparent steering mechanisms.

But then in space you don't have to worry about areodynamics. And Vipers follow the X-wing tradition of dogfighting in space. It don't obey the laws of physics, but dang fun. And nobody is making a big protest of how X-wings fly.

I remember my father saying that about a certain 'shuttle' on a certain TV Scifi
show that's now a MAJOR and I do mean MAJOR enterprise ............so who can

The original Galileo shuttle on Star Trek was pretty much a brick on skis. :LOL:

But it did lead to a line of minivan shapped shuttles in the following Trek franchises.
