Likewise. Tempting as it is to use some Cook County, Illinois methods of voting though, I have faith in the right outcome. :)

Geez, so close to voting on both sides of the atlantic and this happens!

STARBUCK IS A MAN DAMN IT!!!.... :(

Unless they want to start a poll for Jane T Kirk, Hanna Solo, Janette Sheridan, etc

**Sigh!**

Suppose the remake of the book "Moby Dick" will have a girl in Starbuck's role in that too.

Unfortunately they lacked my choice, so I just voted yes (my choice would have been, "I used to think not, but at some point all the yelling desensitized me to the idea".).

Make that one more! It's not really about the gender so much, but I'm just not all that hot over Ms. Katee (bigmouth) Sackhoff....

While i hate the changes made to both Starbuck and Boomer, the girl who plays the female Boomer does look cute. Same cannot be said for Sackhoff. She ain't rocking my boat.

:P:

Guess if the votes are that close you could cheat and log off. Then clear your cookies and log back in, to vote again?! ;)

And if old Ronald D. Moore don't like that, maybe he'll like this:

There, ya go that oughta hold ya! :D

Some of us just love our popcorn entertainment.

More like our Starbuck doesn't turn green from smoking cigars, KJ!

Poor girl, (Katee) they really should have dropped the cigar part just for her sake. Don't think it's a plus for Kara in the first place.

For me Dirk is Starbuck, imagen Han Solo been played by Sigourney Weaver in a StarWars remake . .. . crapnation . it would be horrible, and Sigourney Weaver is a wonderful actor and can play any part ,,but not a part that is loved by so many .. in many ways I admir Katee Sackhoff its a hell of a think to walk into
a hot part and try to make it her own.

I think Tahmoh Penikett who plays Lieutenant Helo would be great a Lt Starbuck
and would work well along side with Jamie Bamber as Captain Apollo I think the show would be recived a lot better.
that my idea anyway.

I just added my vote, NOPE Starbuck shouldn't be a girl. Fans voiced their opinions to Moore but he said the original character was cliche' and decided to give Boomer a sex change as well. Ms Sackhoff's response to the fans complaints was DEAL WITH IT. This is almost the same as getting the "BIRD."

Oh trust me, her words will come back to haunt her, believe you me! More widlely well known shows on air struggle to stay on every season. Sackhoff is on a very thin ice far as the series she is starring in. It's not as if Sci-Fi channel's got a race horse with TNS. Yeah katee the 2004 series got it's own fans, but beyond that? Just for Sci-fi to pull the plug after 6 episode into the second season (if it gets that far) like "Tru Calling".

Guess she'll get interviewed about the failure of the series etc. Then the TOS fans might flip her the bird saying DEAL WITH IT!!! In return.

If any star gets big headed or rude about the show they star in, and bad mouth the fans. They usually screw themselves up in the end!

And lets not forget a certain writer who made Starbuck a (Puh) :girl: to begin with.

Yeah it's a pity the new Boomer can't be a new original character in her own right. But damn  she looks good.

Much better than Sackhoff.

KJ
October 26th, 2004, 12:41 PM
Dirk was winning when i passed by the website this morning. Now all these votes for katee? -

I think some TNS BG fans think this vote thing has actual merit?! :wtf:

And want to prove something by logging up tons of votes. By revoting (Yeah it possible but why do it?)

*Sigh*

You can always tell when things are afoot. If this wasn't messed around with, Katee votes would have taken much longer to beat out Dirk's. Guess some fans somewhere think we TOS fans, care about the stupid poll.

Katee Sackhoff *wins* and the grand prize is Drum roll ........ [tumbleweed rolls on pass and Crickets chirp in the background!] "NOTHING!"

Ah man, it's 'Florida' all over again. I DEMAND A RECOUNT! - :D

KJ

Don't worry Ron i haven't forgotten you!

I voted "Nope" and at the time I voted, Yes was ahead but by less than 1%.

Although I like the Moore version overall the Kara Thrace character is over the top in her attempt to ape a man. She reminds me of what woman act like when the are joking around showing you what a "tough guy" acts like. She reminds me of the kind of smart ass girl we all remember from high school who cusses at guys and acts tough. Every guy wishes he could hit her since in one hit she would be crying to her Mom but alass, she is a girl so you just can't. The Kara Thrace character is told like it would be from the delusional mind of that high school jack ass.

Get rid of her cigar, gambling and foul mouth. Keep the rest and name her Sheba. All would be fine. Just because you cut a doe eyed girls hair short and ensure her character has no manners doesn't make her a tough guy and it certainly doesn't make her Starbuck.

(Do I get a pat on the back from the purist team!)

Then KJ hands him the Battlestar Galactica epic series DVD's to watch.

Antelope I will give you a pat on the back. I don't understand this PURIST term however.

Purist in a continuation sense:

The fans aren't stuck in the 70's with disco, long hair and the other things that characterized the 70's. We expected that there would be changes as the original Battlestar Galactica cast aged. They wouldn't be the center of attraction. The story would involve them helping a new generation realize what they had been through.

Apollo: I must prepare my people for the Second Coming.

This states that the new generation of Colonials have no idea what there parents have been through.

In the DeSanto production the quest for Earth is abandoned by a generation that wants to settle down believing that the threat from the Cylons has passed. They are wrong.

Purist in a remake sense:

In this case we knew there would be changes involving an entirely new cast for the roles we loved as fans to begin with. However the essential element of the story such as characters should have remained the same but been updated for the times. Keep Starbuck a male but give him more of an edge. Ever see Third Watch? Jason Wiles plays Police Officer Maurice "Bosco" Boscorelli. IMHO he would have been great for the role of Starbuck on Moore's show. The role of Apollo still could have been played by Jamie Bamber. To appease the os fans Richard Hatch could have played Adama. Dirk could have played a reimagined Chamelleon, an ex Viper pilot recalled to duty because of the shortage of pilots.

Thanks for the pat.

Purist simply meant as another term for:
TOS-only fan or mini-hater (term I don't like)

Purist: Fan of TOS who thinks a non-TOS based remake, reimagination or Continuation is an abomination.

I liked that response. :D

Though personally I'm not not happy with the personality Katee seems to exude both on stage and off. Though I have noticed that the women in the tv show seem to be more likable than they were in the miniseries. I think there is definitely an attempt to not push them as hard right as they did.
