And now the Red Sox move on to the World Series.

I am a person who believes in the obligation of the strong to protect the weak, in the need to use ones gifts for the common good and to basically look out for the underdog.

Except in baseball.

Having gone to grad school at NYU I have minor, but legitimate, credibility as a Yankees fan. And for many years I have felt that it was the right, nay, the destiny of the franchise ordained by the Allmighty himself since before man and beast walked the earth, that the Yankees should frustrate the Red Sox ambitions to greatness at every turn and maintain their hegemony over baseball for their pleasure: no matter how evil that pleasure might be.

Today, I am chastened.

The Red Sox turned around a 3-0 losing streak to beat the Yankees in the playoffs and are going to the World Series. Indeed, they deserve to win the world series. I am once again reminded of the pitfalls of pride and vanity, the error of underestimating the power of hope and aspiration and forgetting that a grand slam aint called that for nothing.

I was amazed!

And especially since NY is the team everyone said had an unfair advantage with its star line up. THEN they got A-rod too!

I watched the game and realy enjoyed it! Those guys really came from behind. It takes guts to do that....hmmm... I think this fanbase can relate.
