I see that the DVD for this movie is finally here. I actually really liked this movie. True, its not the most logical premise. But its close enough. Kinda like that science argument in that thread we had. A sudden old spell can't happen like this. The NASA technical advisors walked away from this cause it was so ludicrous an idea. But within the movie I thought it was a real enough world, and it made sense.

It was a good movie! I liked it. I had fun! :)

The basic plot was that global warming causes the polar icecaps to melt. This added cold non-salty water causes a dramatic shift in the gulf stream. That dramatic shift causes these dramtic storms to develope that are so intense, they force the near-absolute-zero upper atmosphere air down to ground level. Which causes LOTS of problems!

A little tenuous logic. But good enough. All the acting in this is well done and believable. And there is plenty of occasion for incredible special effects. This is a gorgeous movie to watch. It has fun fast paced action. And if you don't look at the logic too closely, you will have a fun time.

I liked it!!! Watched it twice! I recommend it for rent most definitely!

:D

Changing weather patterns and rising tides may come sooner than you think with or without global warming. They found an active underwater volcano in Antarctica:

The food chain may be affected as well. No Krill and the whole food web may collapse.

My misses bought the 2 disk SE today Tom. Haven't seen it yet though :)
Speaking of DVD's... Do many people here collect or have many DVD's. I'm a member of a couple of DVD forums and I must admit, I hate it when my total number of DVD's hasn't risen for a while. That's surely a bad sign!
Anyway, our dvd collection can be viewed HERE (http://www.planetquake.com/ninja/dvd.htm) if anyone is interested...although it's moving to my local webspace soon as I'm getting annoyed about the adverts they keep placing at the top of the page :/:
