View Full Version : Not so bad- Resident Evil2

I remember hating the first movie even though I loved the video games.

BUT THIS WAS MUCH BETTER.

The story was actually interesting. Okay, its not as good as Psycho, or even one of those Freddie Krugar movies, but I found myself well entertained by this. Alot more than I would have thought.

The basic scenario is the same as its ever been. A malicious weapons manufacturer creates a bioweapon that escapes. It is the T-virus. Originally planned to repair damaged cell tissue, it has the horrible side effect of making your brain mush. All you want to do is eat and well...that includes cannibalism. And your body is basically unkillable. You are a walking zombie. And worse, its HIGHLY contagious.

The basic story, like the game, is to just survive and get out.

I enjoyed the movie. I went in expecting a really bad movie but was surprised to find I liked this movie! It has some similarities to Aliens, the second movie with Sigourney Weaver. Basically the tough woman faced with an insane foe and incredible danger trying to save a little girl. Its not as high budget. And its still a B and not an A. But It was fun.

I would give it a 7 out of 10.

Yes, I also enjoyed the second RE movie. (I liked the first one too) but this movie was 100 times what the first movie was in terms of action, story, visual effects, and they even brought in a few of the actual characters from the game.

I will advise anyone though that caution should be exercised if you are considering this to be a "first date" film. An ex-girlfriend of mine recommended it as such to me, when we were talking about movies.

I took my current girlfriend to see the movie. The plan was movie, and then go eat at a Mexican restaurant. Well...15 minutes into the movie, my girlfriend leans over and says: "About dinner? I think that just went out the window." She enjoyed the story of the movie, but the graphic nature of it didn't settle with her so well. :)

Thom, did you catch the reference they made to another famous videogame in the movie? It was laugh out loud hilarious for those of us that caught it.

I too give the movie a 7 out of 10. Great popcorn fare (if ye've a strong stomach)!

The first movie had ONE thing though over the second movie....Milla Jovovich in a minidress...soaked! :D

I think Milla is making a habit of being mostly naked at the end of each of these films. I'm glad she didn't die at the end. But I'm dang curious what is going on in her head now!

I enjoyed seeing Jill Valentine added into this. That added alot for me. I liked the character in the game. I kept looking hoping to see Leon or Claire, but no go. Though I did recognize a few of her scenes in the movie. Did anyone else play RE:Veronica? I liked the helicopter machine fgun strafe through the glass! I remember that!!!

Hmmmmm......No I don't remeber any reference to any other game. But It may have slipped my mind. :D My brain leaks like a seive when I watch movies. But I did enjoy it. I thought the dialog started out a bit cliche, but it quickly became natural, except for when they were talking about nuking the city. That point was a bit cliche. But it was good. :D

I really liked Nicholai. Too bad he didn't last too long!

One thing I really like is that they took that Nemesis guy and injected more story into him! And it easily fits into the game which is kinda nice! Infact the whole movie works well with the game. Which is an added niceity. Now if only they would get the game off the Gamecube and back on PS2 so I can play it again....
:D

That would be nice!

I feel in the mood to play the game again...but I lent my ps2 to a friend! BUMMER.
:D
