In the last year since just prior to the release of Ron D. Moore's remake of the Classic series of Battlestar Galactica, fans of the original which was envisioned by Glen A. Larson have been fighting tooth and nail in order to get recognised by the media which exists outside of the internet. Finally their time has arrived, with much thanks to the Colonial Fan Force which is an international group of Battlestar Galactica fans who are fighting for their dream of a continuation of the original Battlestar Galactica series.
Back in January of this year this intrepid group of fans set out to raise money for two centre page adverts to be featured in ‘The Daily Variety' and the Fall issue of ‘Cinescape Magazine', the group finally raised enough money to this end about two and a half months ago, well and truly ahead of schedule.
Their first advert which will be posted in this Fridays issue of ‘The Daily Variety' this advert shows a new determination on the part of fans of the original series who by and large have been pretty much ignored by the mainstream media. Bill Gordon president of the CFF stated that this ad campaign has absolutely nothing to do with the recent Sci Fi Channel remake of the series.
“Despite claims made by the Sci-Fi Channel that this campaign is in response to their ‘re-imagined' mini-series and upcoming cable series of the same name, the CFF effort is in no way connected to the aforementioned ‘re-imagined' series, but is rather the latest and most organized push in a campaign that has been ongoing for a quarter-century by fans who want to see the true BATTLESTAR GALACTICA where it belongs, on the big screen.”
The posters which will feature in both publications are as a show of support to Glen Larson and Tom DeSanto, as well as to let other fans of the Classic show know who to write to in order for them to be heard.
For more information about this dynamic group of fans check out their website which is www.colonialfanforce.org and keep in mind, ‘That there are still those who believe'.
Thanks, Ian!
