I just wanted to let you guys know that I am sorry for posting the DB rumor.
I can assure you, it was not meant to be malicious.
My source said it was definite, and just recently said a change had been made to the role.
I did not want to cause problems or to stir the flames.
That was not my intent.
Blame me for being overly optimistic or too believing....well, I hope you know what I mean.
I love both incarnations of BSG: the original & the new.
Hence, that's why I love reporting any info on the RDM version. In future I will check & double-check what my source(s) state(s) before posting.
As you know, I support the CFF's efforts.
I have even defended it vigorously on the Skiffy board recently.
In any case, I do apologize and hope you accept what I am saying here.
Anything dealing with Hatch or Benedict, I will check with you guys in a PM, OK?
Sorry again.
I would hope I am still welcome on your board. or even CA
By the way, just FYI I ran across this segment on Colonial Days on the HollywoodNorthReport:

Don't sweat it, KR. As far as I can tell, you're human. And that means that as one of us, you'll make mistakes. :D

Thanks for the apology KR, it took guts to do that.
FYI, we at CA hear the odd rumour from time to time, but one thing we learned from TBC is that never to take anything for granted and always try to get someone to corroborate the info which is not always so easy!
Yep, we've heard some doozies.
Best,
Peter

Thanks for posting the link ......don't sweat the small stuff KoenigRules
By the way I assume your name means walter Koenig Rules? In either

Mr. Bester :D

Actually its John Koenig from Space: 1999, but if you want Walter Koenig- that's fine.
I think they lifted his name for the series.
By the way in the Season 2 premiere of 1999, they have a character called Picard. Coincidence that later in ST: TNG we have a commander by the same name.
Take care.

I'm glad to see everybody happy. :D
Even as a retired admin, its disheartening to see people argue over rumors. Rumors aren't worth people get all irritated at each other. I try not to give a damn about rumors. I always try to have a que sera sera attitude about it.
If Dirk Benedict is on the new show, I'm happy for him. If not I don't have any apathy against wither show or person. Its not worth our time. Forum squabbles aren't worth our time.
:D
Glad to see ya happy again KR. Glad to see everyone happy. :D

That's a good attitude to have thomas.
OH Koenigrules I loved space1999 too. I wish they'd bring that one back!

KR,
Thanks for the apology. It is very much appreciated. Please understand that we and especially, I, never wished you ill will. It was never the original intent although, even if some of the posts may indicate otherwise.
From my point of view, you are definitely welcome on this board and are encouraged to continue reporting news events, as you hear them. But, as those who posted before me have mentioned, be careful of your sources. We've all been burnt way too many times and in the end, it's folks like you and me that wind up paying the price, for other people's shoddy information.
Welcome back, enjoy yourself, and check out the rest of Fleets. There are lots of interesting conversations going on, at the moment.

KR (& Tom) -
I love the new avatar! I have a Space:1999 avatar with Bill Fraser from Year 2 for my Cylon Alliance avatar. I thought about changing mine that I have here, but the current one I have is one of Tommy's custom jobs he did for me.
It's nice to see someone display their pride in being an "Alphan" at heart!

You bet. And I would not mind a 1999 continuation movie, although with Thunderbirds flopping, I'm just not sure of the viability of that project now.

I think it could work. Martin Landau is still a great actor. Though his onscreen persona is very different now than back then.
Thunderbirds could have worked. Had the movie been about the Thunderbirds. :D

Well- I do know Landau, Bain, Morse & Schell are still alive.
Tony Anholt died last year & that was very surprising.
Here is the link (his last role was on LEXX).
http://www.fanderson.org.uk/news3.html#Tony%20Anholt
You have to scroll down the page a bit to find the news item.
So if they are going to do a Second Generation 1999 movie, they should do one VERY soon as these guys are not "spring chickens"- except for Schell of course.

KR -
In a word.......NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Leave Space:1999 the way it is....um, was! Beautiful, pristine, somewhat inaccurate at times, but it still holds up for the most part. I love my DVD set - I never tire of it!
I know that UFO is being re-tooled for a new TV series outing. The Thunderbirds movie idea sank like a stone (bad script) and I heard that Gerry Anderson is doing a CGI version of Captain Scarlet. That's enough - just leave 1999 alone....please!
If they did a "continuation" movie - it would be so hard for them to do it. I fear a re-imagining would tear the heart out of what really made Space:1999 unless they got one of the orginal writers that really "got" the show. Kind of like when one of the original writers worked on the fan-made "Message From Moonbase Alpha".
I don't know - I keep hearing arguments to make it more scientifically accurate....
I guess we'll just have to see what comes of it (or not).
Best,
Bryan
PS - Space:1999 Rocks!

KR
It was indeed - I was so shocked. He was still acting - not a lot but he still looked pretty good for his age and all. He just seemed too young to go so soon...
I have a postcard of Tony in his Year 2 uniform with an autograph - A friend in the UK gave it to me as a birthday gift a long time ago. When Tony passed away, I took the time to have it framed and hang it up instead of having it in a photo album in a closet. I know it sounds like I'm going overboard, but that's how I chose to honor one of my favorite TV people after he was gone.
I can remember one of Maya's lines from the episode "Space Warp":
"Where's Tony, I want to see Tony...."
Thank god I have the DVDs, I can see all of them whenever I want!
Best,
Bryan

koenigrules,
Thank you for your apology. I will pass it on to Dirk.
He's the one who deserves it the most.
But next time please...PM me first? I'll be happy to do any clarifying so this unfortunate situation doesn't happen again or cause *anyone* any undue embarassment :)
Peace out,
Tracy

It warms my heart greatly, Koenigrules, that you have the intestinal fortitude to post a heartfelt apology as you did. I salute you, sir. :salute:
I have greater hopes now for peace in the Galactica fandom.
Koenigrules, if I may impart this word of wisdom.
Confuscious say: "Gossip is joke with keen sense of rumor." (Think Charlie Chan accent for full impact.) :D
Respectfully, and with a glad heart,

Thunderbirds could have worked. Had the movie been about the Thunderbirds. :DI wasn't even familiar with the Thunderbirds and felt exactly that. I wanted to see the cool rescue vehicles really strut their stuff.
KR,
don't feel bad, you are not the first in this fandom to be burned by a source. I think in the end it becomes like a childhood game of telephone where the comment at the end is altered completed from what began it's way around the circle.
We've heard doozies, lots of doozies around here. We could tell you stories for days on end of some of the crazy things... just don't be hard on yourself, but try to understand why we were such naysayers to your rumor. We've been burned so before and it's not worth the worries or getting hopes up too high.
Hang in there.

Thanks Jewels.
I know we don't see eye to eye on the new BSG, but your words are very supportive & encouraging.
Just thought you'd like to know.
Thank you martok2112 & cranky1c as well.

I am waiting for the DVD of Thunderbirds. I think it one of those B-Movies that you watch for the fun of it. What can I say, I thought DOC Savage was a really good movie when I saw it as a kid. Anyone for Sky Captain? :D
KR: I alwayed enjoy your rumor and never thought they where given to be mean or spiteful. They certainly provided for lively discussion. You're 'ok' in my book. :salute:
