Hi all! Well, barely a year after requesting it, Disney's epic space adventure The Black Hole has just been rereleased on DVD - and they did it WONDERFULLY this time!
For those of you in the know, the first DVD just didn't do justice to this eye feast. It was letterbox (not adjustablE to widescreen TVs) and basically mono. Bad transfer too, lots of graininess. But DIsney 2004 to the rescue!!!!! The new version is AWESOME. Dolby DIgital sound, true anamorphic widescreen, and the most beautiful transfer I've yet seen for a 25 year old DVD - they MUST have remastered it. The video is FLAWLESS. You just GOTTA have this. The meteor storm is to DIE for.
And even more spectacular -- AT LONG LAST STAR TREK TOS SEASON ONE IS BEING RELEASED AS A BOX SET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Huzzah!!!!!!!!!!! No more piecemeal (and expensive) one ep at a time purchases. And redone in Dolby to boot! I ALMOST spent $1500 for the VHS box set back in the 80's -- lucky for me I got my Roland synth instead!!! Now I can get a DVD BOX set for only $80!!!
You just GOTTA have these folks. 2004 is a wonderful year, it really is!
