I was watching some of the opening ceremonies and one of the broadcasters (Tom Brokaw ??) mentioned that an Australian plane airlifted the athletes out of Iraq, under secrecy, due to the violence taking place in Iraq. Talk about international cooperation!!

Well, Phelps got his first GOLD!
And broke the world record to boot! :D
In the process he broke his world record by .15 of a second and shattered Tom Dolan's Olympic mark, set four years ago in Sydney, by more than three seconds.

i was disappointed in the men's basketball game. They should play their warm up team a little more. They have good talent that they are not using like former UConn player Emeka Okafor! glad to see that the US whipped the Aussie's in men's beach volleyball.
Go USA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Actually blood doping has been around for awhile I first heard of it when
a athelete from Siberia was stripped of his medals a few years back.
Everyone thought he was on drugs but they couldn't prove it until
just a few years ago.

Heard yesterday on the evening news that Athens had some tremors. it wasn't that bad and nothing was damaged!
as it stands right now the US has 73 total medals.
One of the female gymnasts is from Connecticut!

I can't believe the flap that a local dj has created by saying that Paul Hamm who won the gold for men's individual gymnastics should give back his medal because the judges made a scoring mistake.
That's tantamount to asking the winner of the World Series to give back the statue because they are reversing the ruling on a bad call by an umpire. I feel that why should the winner have to give up what he earned because of a judges scoring error. They made the mistake not the athelete!

A LOT of Journalists are trying to SHAME that Paul Hamm into giving BACK
his MEDAL. I want to see the JOURNALISTS give back their CREDITIALS
for trying to MAKE the NEWS instead of REPORTING IT. Then and ONLY
then will Paul Hamm have any REASON to return his medal.:rage:
You know something .........when the same thing HAPPENED in 2002.
NOT ONE PERSON dared to ask the RUSSIANS {who skated SO POORLY
and had major ERRORS in their skate whereas the Canadians had NONE}
at the OLYMPICS to RETURN THEIR MEDAL.
Me thinks it's a bit of a DOUBLE STANDARD HERE :thumbdown

uh huh! yup I saw that and so didn't my stepdad. We agreed that the Russians should have never gotten a medal. Just like when Tonya Harding broke a lace on her skates and went crying to the judges that she wanted to skate her whole routine over. she should have never gotten the chance!
