Have any of you anime fans ever run into this situation?

A guy walks into a comic store that just happens to sell anime/manga. He walks up to the counter, and asks: "'Scuse me...but do you happ'n ta have that cartoon called Dragonballs?"

And the indignant lil' nerd behind the counter turns red, bellowing: "What did you call it?! A CARTOON?!! IT IS ANIME, you ignorant ***! Anime is an art form, and it's better than the crap we get here in America! And the ANIME is called Dragon Ball-Z!"

Alas, I have seen such a scenario. Thankfully, staring at still pics of Swan Jun was enough to keep me in the shop whilst the lil' guy was going off on his tirade about Japanese vs. American animation.

Anyone else?

Inquisitively,

P.S. Ya know, I do not mean to sound abrasive here, but sometimes, some anime fans can take this stuff way too much to heart....as much as I suppose any fan of anything can. But when an American kid starts trashing our own animators, and saying that they are more accustomed to Japanese style...as if they could live the Japanese way of life...I always respond like this (as a joke to defuse the situation.)

"I got two words for ya' , Otaku-san! Hiroshima! Nagasaki!"

Usually that gets em ta shut their yaps.

But don't get me wrong. I love the Japanese people, and do not think ill of them in real life.

Last year I was accused of conspiring to manipulate the fanbase to support a Hatch based continuation over a Desanto based one. And let me tell you ALOT of good people were really pissy at me and tried to shut down this forum.

Even though the truth was the Fleet staff never really gave a damn WHO brought it back. And we certainly weren't trying to push the fanbase toward either choice. But the rumor was enough.

And every once and awhile someone comes up with a new conspiracy.

Good people can do bizarre things.
