Cancer's Golden Bullets
Imagine treating cancer just by shining light on the tumour. That's exactly how Dr. Jennifer West, a professor of bioengineering at RiceUniversity, is approaching the problem. She's developed tiny glass balls coated with gold that heat up when light shines on them. When she injects these balls, or nanospheres as they're called, into tumours and shines light on them, the tumours are killed. Right now she's working with mice, but if the same thing happens in humans, this could revolutionize cancer treatment.
(She says in the interview that they are 12 to 18 months away from human testing It sounds incredibly exciting, listen to the interview I got goose bumps listening to it)

Too many people have lost their lives due this horrible curse called Cancer. It attacks anyone no matter their age, race ect....... And is a very painful way to die.
If a better treatment or cure could be found I'd be on top of the world with excitement!!!!!
What a great find Rowan

That is good news BSG...Had a scare last year when I got my mamogram. They saw a change and had me come in for a close-up mamagram(and I thought the other ones hurt) and then I had to wait while they looked at it, then they did an ultrasound(it was scary all so fast) and wanted me to get a biopsy. My aunt died of breast cancer. Luckily, it all turned out fine...after lots of fear and some pain(I don't do well with needles)...little nervous about my next mamogram in October.

mom gets checked for cancer every year since her bout with it. we are knocking on wood and counting our blessings as nothing has shown up since her surgery to remove the tumor.
