I saw Catwoman...and I have to say.....
I liked the movie better BEFORE she got her "cat-powers".:nervous:
Before she got her cat powers I really liked Halle Berry as a plain old meek office girl. Plus she was VERY beautiful! And you can relate to a lost and confused person trying to deal with a crazy world.
The cat part I found very weird. The way she got her powers was a little too bizarre for me. It looked like the cat gave her a french kiss and BOOM she got catified! Ooookay....
Not that this film don't have ALOT of production values. This film is shot beautifully. You really can tell they didn't cut corners on the film's budget. And Halle Berry movements as catwoman are wonderful to watch.
But three things really bother me about this film.
1) The strange mythological aspect they are trying to add to Catwoman doesn't really make sense to me. Maaaaybe it could work in a comic book. But It was too far fetched for me. Basically they are trying too hard to emulate spiderman and create another superpowered character to sell movie tickets.
2) The second spiderman movie taught us one thing, it really pays off to have a great villian. And the writing that went into Sharon Stones character was pretty weak. Dialog overall could have been better. But The whole evil plot behind this character didn't make sense. The whole evil plot don't make sense. As if a company won't get sued for creating something worse than cigarettes?
3) I didn't like catwoman. She was too hardline in your face. It was a total departure from the character in the first half of the film. True, there are reasons for that....but I didn't like the changes. I couldn't care about the new Halle Berry. In real life Halle Berry broke up with her cheating husband right before filming started. And she mentined she used this film to get out her aggressions. AND IT SHOWS!!!! Its great to see a strong woman character, but it was hard to like the catwoman. Plus the dominatrix suit was a turnoff for me.
i think this movie was better than the Hulk. And it was on par with most of the later Batman movies. One of the main problem this film has is that it is playing at the same time as Spiderman 2. And the spider is a much better film on sooo many levels. Spiderman has more likable characters. You like Spidey more. The villian is incredible. The dialog touches you (I believe there is a hero in all of us...). And the romance is better.
Catwoman has Halle Berry who did a great acting job. Even though I didn't like her change.. I thought she played her lines well. And there is a greater attempt to have a sense of style and hifashion in how the film is shot.
But if you have to chose, its a hands down winner for the spider. Catwoman isn't BAD. Its just alot weaker than the competition.
