I came across this japanese saying tonight:

Feed a dog for three days and he'll be gratefull for three years.

Feed a cat for three years and he'll forget in three days.
;)

No offense meant to cat owners. Please don't hit me. :D

Why would a cat owner take offence to something so very true?

There's another saying...
A dog to adore you and a cat to ignore you.

I hear you, Thomas. I am a dog fan but I can't own a dog in my condo due to condo commando rules. For 2 years I babysat my cousin's cat Tigra ("Teegra"), changed her litter box and fed her and gave her water every night. Whenever her bowl was empty she'd meow in my direction until I filled it. But she hated me, for some only-God-knows reason, and wouldn't let me pet her, hold her, or touch her. She avoided me and left the room if I sat down next to her on the couch, but when she was hungry, she'd meow loudly until I obeyed her and served her to her will and fancy. If I made myself a tuna fish sandwich she respond to the smell by rubbing against my legs and purring, but even after I gave her some of my tuna she's still lunge out of the way if I went to pet her. Oh, she had me trained well. I am so glad that my cousin finally retrieved his miserable animal.

This reminds me of a quote I once saw.

"Dogs have owners, cats have staff!"

Well I've lived with over 40 cats in my life and 5 dogs. I also worked at a vet hospital for 4 years and so have worked with thousands of cats and dogs. I presently live with 7 cats and 2, 60 lbs dogs I love dogs but I prefer cats.
6 out of 7 of my cats are super affectionate and loving. I have several that come when I call their names, even when they are all sleeping as a group the right one lifts their head gets up and comes over for a cuddle and OH they are very cuddly, too much so in fact you never get a moments peace! LOL!
Roo loves to jump into your arms and rub his face all over your chin if you have a beard he loves to grooms it, he gets so excited about all this that he begins to drool!
Little Guy (who is 16lbs) loves to lie down along your back and wrap his paws around your neck tuck his head in to your neck and purr.
Tristan I can hang upside down and rub his belly while he stretches out and relaxes so completely I have to make sure I have a good grip or he could fall. Tristan also has this ritual with me after I get out of the shower he comes over I bend my head down to him and he stands up on his hind legs and wraps his paws around my head and rubs his face in my wet hair!
Squirt gets so excited if you walk towards her she does a half somersault kind of thing (head down, shoulder move in which her whole body flips over ) in front of you and lays there on her side looking up for loves if you walk by and ignore this she gets up runs ahead of you and flops down again until you pet her!
Jasper won't eat until you have petted him he will sit there while everyone wolfs down their food and cry at you till you pet him then he will eat!
Maggie is so lady like and delicate she loves to follow you from room to room and will settle down where ever you are, but first she needs to let you know she's there and comes over to greet you.
If I fall asleep on the couch or the spare bed in the computer room I will awake to find ALL of them on the bed with me!
None of my cats are aloof or independent. You just have to pick the right personality they are out there people!
Oh and I adopted the dogs as adults from the SPCA and they are two of the goofiest love bugs ...I can lift them up and put them around my shoulders and they just sit there and relax all 60 lbs on my 115 lbs shoulders LOL! Just thought I'd share my pet stories with ya'll;) :D

my sister has two cats. One is just plain goofy as anything. He is aptly named Wacko. He does the craziest things. Instead of laying down gracefully this cat tucks his head into his body and just slams down on his side.

Now the other cat they have is a sweetie, used to be a meanie. He used to be scared of every thing so they named him Schitzo. Since his older half brother (Brutus) passed this cat has mellowed way out. Bru and Schitz had same mommy, different daddy. He lets you pet him (you might have lost an arm doing that before) and he comes right to you if you call him and when you start petting him he goes ballistic and purrs up a storm. He is so cute though, he's an all black Burmese.

I have three cats, two of which I rescued from other places and one I chose on my own when she was just a baby. Actually, I chose her and her cousin, who was the best cat ever. He absolutely adored my Shepherd, but he ran away when the puppy came to live with me and I never found him again. :( Poor Grendel. :(

They all love attention, but only when they want it, otherwise they turn their noses up at me and walk away. My dogs on the other hand are part Velcro. I can't move without them jumping up and following me. I can't even count how many times I have moved to avoid the puppy and ended up tripping over the Shepherd. It was lots of fun when I had knee surgery and was on crutches for almost two months.

I love all animals, but, I much prefer dogs. I hate litter box duty and would much rather occasionally rake some poo out of the yard than clean those nasty things out twice a week.

I love all animals but prefer dogs also. They mind better, are more affectionate
and UNLIKE most cats I have seen don't consider theirselves SUPERIOR to US :P:
