Battle of the planets
G-FORCE - PRINCESS, TINY, KEYOP, MARK, JASON
AND WATCHING OVER THEM FROM CENTRE NEPTUNE THEIR
COMPUTERISED CO-ORDINATOR 7- ZARK -7 WATCHING, WARNING AGAINST
SURPRISE ATTACKS BY ALIEN GALAXIES BEYOND SPACE! FEARLESS YOUNG
ORPHANS, PROTECTING EARTH'S ENTIRE GALAXY. ALWAYS FIVE ACTING
AS ONE... DECICATED, INSEPARABLE, INVINCIBLE.

Well I could not stop myself I went out and got the BOTP box set and have enjoyed it totaly, the great thing is that I got it second hand for a nice price
of €45.00 which is around $55.00..

what do you get in the DVD Boxed set, The BOTP 85 episodes over 35 hours
of G-FORCE adventure's defending Earth aginst the plans of Zoltar and O Luminous One.
the Bonus Material..
THE MOVIE:
.. which is 2 episodes story archs paste together with the fight scene uncut!. the voice of 7- ZARK -7 is more machine like and a more serious charactor ( 7- ZARK -7 can be a pain in the orignal cut episodes , some of the time the cut's are so heavy done the story does not hold together very well ). the sound effects have have been updated the voice have remained the same very enjoyable.
THE MINI:
Shorter then the movie and centre neptune is under attack and the great thing is the fight's are uncut too.
NEW ANIMATION PROMO 2004 .. looks great
ART GALLERY.. some nice stuff thought there would be more?
and THE 85 EPISODES.

Plus marks for the boxed set..The Movie and Mini:
minus marks for the boxed set.. The editing; Much of the fight scene's have been
totaly cut out.
when a charactor has been killed, Zark tell you the dead charactor will be back in
a few weeks when they are out of hospital or something like that!

Was it worth it.. YES.. very enjoyable :salute:

Congratulations!!!!!

I love the series too! I'm sorry to hear they went with the politically correct editing. I always hated how they couldn't just say people died. That is part of the drama.

Mark(Ken) was always my favorite one. I just remember he was very cool with his miniplane and his sonic boomerang.

Good buy!!!!! :D

I'm going to have to save up for this one! I loved G-force Growing up!
Used to watch it all the time, even had the lunch box in second grade ;)

*I think Jason was my favorite*

Battle of the Planets was cool to watch as a kid. I personally liked Princess...who always wore that daring mini-skirt outfit into battle. (Impractical, maybe. Sexy, oohhhhh yeah!)

Actually, if you want to see Battle of the Planets uncut....get the version called Gatchaman. I think that one is the more mature version of BOTP. (I think GATCHAMAN came out first anyway.) I plan to get it asap.

Also, the new comics of Battle of the Planets seem to have more the flavor of GATCHAMAN)

Respectfully, and Sayonara, Otaku!
Martok2112 (I think I'm turning Japanese! I think I'm turning Japanese!)

Mark is my favorite too, and I liked his arguments with Jason.

Is there an english version called Gatchaman? Gatchaman is the original Japanese title. There was more blood, bullet wounds and death.

I also have trouble relating to the american names. Jason? WHO? oh... Joe. :D

I think, when I saw GATCHAMAN in stores, it had english dialogue versions on the dvds. You might find em at FYE, BEST BUY, SAM GOODY, or even SUNCOAST VIDEO.

The only name I know in GATCHAMAN is Swan Jun, who is Princess in BOTP. I think she gets her outfit kinda....um....battle damaged a lot...if you know what I mean. :D

Respectfully,

There is a new Gatchaman anime made a few years ago. That could be it. I love the new mecha designs. :D

hmmm... the first few are easy. Jun, Ken, and Joe. :D

Mark was too clean cut and perfect. Give me an antihero like Jason any day.

Boy, did they dress really, really BADLY in their civilian identities? And there must have been some heavy humidity around the base if their hair is any indica.

But I love them anyway. I didnt learn Keyop was an android untill many years later. I just figured he had Tourettes or something.

Ever notice the ONLY thing Tiny did off duty was eat "Spaceburgers?" Yep. That's all fat people are good for in anime, eating. :/: Tiny was also the only member of the team with a last name, Harper.Although Princess' last name was presumably Andersen as well, but was never actually addressed as such.

When you think about it, the Voltron Lion team ripped the crew off

Square-jawed, straight shooting leader
Cool maverick second in command
Kid with irritating voice
Fat strong guy
The chick

In the series G-On Riders, the principal of the school and commander of the heriones was distinctly patterned as a parody of Chief Andersen. Damn crazy Swedes. And if you think anime chicks in glasses are hawt, THIS is your show, buddy. Done by the makers of Cosplay Complex and Hand Maid May, so you KNOW you're in for some quality fan service.

In the episode of Dexter's Lab where Dester goes to Japan as an exchange student, one of the kids Dexter meets is dressed up like Mark's civilian identity. Including the ONE on his shirt and his gaudy striped pants.

Speaking of which. Anybody seen THIS figure? I got one and he's super cool. All the Microman series are. (http://www.16bit.com/microforce-gatchaman.asp)

I've been looking this up on Google and it appears that the complete set is only available in the UK. Too bad, I loved this show as a kid.

I looked on their site and it appears that their box sets pick up after x # of episodes. The only box set that has all 85 eps in one unit that I've found so far is the UK release. Althought, for all the TV I watch, I should just buy one of the several volumes available in the US.
