I just noticed something very odd...I always remembered the Ship of Lights Angels as being sparkling white robed creatures... but in drawing my latest drawing it hard for me to draw the angels without making it look muslim!

Don't they all look muslim to you? Not there is anything wrong of course...but this is a weird time to be drawing muslim holy creatures!

That's when you tell them these are really irridescently robed Turkish belly dancers.....they'll either crack up or be interested in imagining what wonders are under the robes...if they are males at least.

Yeah. The entire religion has taken a lot of sh*t the last couple of years. when will it end? Hell, the Koran is no more violent than the Bible is.

*Gets off soapbox and smashes it into itty bitty pieces, then smashes the pieces into even smaller pieces*

Don't wanna go to GITMO? Under the Caribbean sun, Three squares a day (excluding bacon), and lots of company, what's not to like??? :D

Islam is really a very beautiful faith, with strong Judeo-Christian parallels (it is, after all, a child of those religions). Reading the Koran can be very inspiring. Interpreting the inhabitants of the Ship of Lights as Muslim-esque actually fits well with the series.

It is unfortunate that extremists have tarnished Islam’s image in the world.

I have had the opertunity to see something of the Hindu fath, the Angels of Light could be of Hindu origin as well. There are many beautiful parts of Hindi.

I saw a episode of West Wing that pretty much sums it up to me.

Muslim extremist is to Islam, like KKK is to Christianity. Its the klan gone medieval and global.

btw, for those that don't know me, I have a high opinion of most people regardless of faith no matter where they live.
;)

I just find it ironic. If you take your typical woman from Saudi Arabia, in all her coverings, and then transport her to the Ship of Lights, then her clothes will turn a pure white...and she would see all these other people dressed just like her!

:D

The robed figures can also be found in the Hebrew/Christian faith.

That's true but I do believe that the outfits more exactly infer the muslim
faith :nervous:

They could also refer to the Mormon religion which Larson is part of. The Thirteenth Tribe.

Larson is from the Mormon faith. The garments could be a representation of that.

I don't think they ever dressed like that in the Mormon faith ;)

They are a representation of want humanity can become or will become.
If they were to be shown in a continuation today these sets would look cheesy by comparison.
Glen Larson to my knowledge has never publicly clarified who they were or where they come from. There was no series bible so it is open to interpretation as who they are and where they came from
