As of today, we've topped $700. A little less than $1,300 to go before September.
That might seem like a long time, but... actually... it's not that far away. Today and tomorrow are paydays for a lot of peeps... so, if you can donate any amount... even the cost of a lunch (and who can't brown bag it at least one day?)... please head over to http://www.colonialfanforce.org, click on the Paypal button, and send us your $5.00, $7.00, or $10.00.
And know that if you're routinely paying more than $10.00 for lunch... you may want to reconsider some of those lunch spots. :)
Were going to do this folks... every single dollar puts us that much closer to the $2,000 goal... and making history with a full color ad in Daily Variety.
Let's show 'em we mean business.
Larson and DeSanto can't do it without us. And I know in my heart that they want to do this... and that they will use every tool we provide them to make their case to the studios and the financial backers.
I'm directing this more to the folks who have yet to donate, rather than those who have already given two or three times... and, as you can see from the CFF site, there are plenty of them. If we spread the load a little more broadly, it costs everyone less, and we all get what we want.
I got an email from Dirk just today saying he's ready to play Starbuck again. What say we help him out? $5.00, $7.00, or $10.00 from every member here, at CA, and BSGClub... and we could hit this goal tomorrow.
And then you'd never have to hear me beg again... because, well, I don't think Variety has any more astounding offers up their sleeve. ;)
http://www.colonialfanforce.org.
Do it today.

Dear Cmdr Taggart,
Thanks for continuing to keep the CFF flame burning. I'll be trying to donate again...
>I got an email from Dirk just today saying he's ready to play Starbuck again.
Please can you tell more more about this ? Without breaking confidence ? Did he mean just in a big screen continuation ? Or is he willing to participate in lesser BSG projects, such as big scale fanfilms ?
Why not invite him to join in the fun here are CF ? Long live the CFF and its bold and ambitious projects ! (and Commander Taggart!)

Ernie,
I think the only way Starbuck could be played true to form, as Dirk would want to, is in a film. Simply because Uni. is stuck with their current TV incarnation and there is no turning back for them on TV. Film is a whole different game entirely.

Ernie... what Jewels said. :)

I really agree with Jewels on this. The style of character of Starbuck is very unique. And it is very well done by Dirk Benedict. The pauses he puts in his speech, the way he drags out going into action, but at the same time he is a heroic character. This is best done by Benedict. Anyone else would...suck.
:)
Regarding Universal... oh that one company that almost seems like they would NOT do a BG movie just to SPITE all those who spat against the mini. I think Universal is pretty much a closed door. The scifi channel is a closed door. They do NOT like our BG or its fans. And frankly, they already HAVE a Battlestar Galactica. There is no profit to spend hundreds of millions to develope another when they already got one in production. For Universal and Scifi Channel its the Moore version or nothing for the next decade.
But then.... They aren't the only studio in town. There are a ton of movie producers who would take up the BG movie torch if it looked profitable. If it could be presented as a sure bet, a goldmine in the rough, then it will happen. But of course... you still have to wait a few years for it to happen. :D
If you want to support BG then WATCH XMEN3 and TRANSFORMERS when they come out. That will give DeSanto alot more power to push the next project he wants. Those two movies are what is really critical to us at this point. Probably more so than anything else.
Helping Tag do his ads is a good thing. It shows Glen and Tom we still like it.
That, and everyone should be good ambassadors for BG. Be nice to possible converts. Give them a reason to like BG and not to hate it. (shooting off your mouth being an asshole BG fan will not help the show). Anyways that last part is my philosophy. And it is part of what guides CF.
:)
I also would add....HAVE FUN. Overflow with fun. Go out in the world and enjoy life!!!! Spread it everywhere. Spread it amoung the BG fanbase. That also helps.
:salute:

thomas7g has said something absolutely right here, and that is that Xmen3 and Transformers must be supported. There has been a discussion in the 'News' thread about the how the poor performance of Riddick could affect sci-fi.
I don't think it will, but I DO think that if Xmen3 and Transformers flop, the Tom DeSanto's clout could be reduced, and his interest is one of the most important things that the BSG fanbase have !
That's why you won't be able to keep me away from Transformers the movie when it comes out over here in the UK (anyone know the date ?)
Then again, you wouldn't have been able to keep me away from a Transformers movie anyway !!!!!!!!!

Jewels,
Thanks for the reply, my questions was also about a Second Coming like venture, and if Dirk would be in that sort of thing ?
Not that I am trying to call him right now, cos I have never made a fanfilm, just idle curiosity !

Ernie, from what I know of Dirk, he would only reprise Starbuck in a full-fledged, studio-backed revival. He's a single father and a working author, and keeps pretty darn busy.
