This means that maybe they will release the dvds for the series.

That would be nice. I liked the old show.

Did you know they didn't even make an exterior of the flying sub till the last season? I was building the model of it and was waiting for scifi to air the last season. Then they canceled the showinga just before they got to it!!!!

grrrrrrrrr

But I think they all ready made a remake of it. They called it SeaQuest. It wasn't planned as a remake... but it essentially was.

Cool! :D

This show wasn't too bad. I used to watch the reruns on sci-fi.

The first season was actually a decent cold war espionage/ sci fi action series. But then Batman came along in 1966 and lots of shows jumped on the camp bandwagon. VTTBOTS soon became a show that featured were-wolves, lobster men, leprurchans, killer puppets and every monster left over from Lost in Space. Because this period was in color, (the more serious first season was in black and white) it was shown more frequently, and as a result most people remember the show as a monster of the week kiddie show. However, I believe that you can't go wrong with VTTBOTS. It is an entertaining show that showcased the great talent of Richard Basehart. No matter how outragous the plot, he always anchored the show with a sense of conviction. I would love to see the show preserved on dvd.

I liked the first black and white season too. :D Much better than the color in terms of story.

But the color version had a better design. The submarine was remodeled to be more sleak and sharklike. And it added the flying sub. I don't recall that in the first season. You just had the diving bell and mini sub (the red cigar shaped one). I alays loved how the sub would just dive straight into the water. Don't know how the thing flew. It had no control surfaces. The splashdown shoulda crushed the windows, but who cares!
