Anyone see the New Radio shack commercial where they are showing original Galactica on a portable DVD player?
Add this to all the other Shack Commercials that have Galactica in it and I would say that we have a real fan working there somewhere.
So here is to Radio shack, I tip my glass to you
We should have a huge mail in to Radio shack to show our support. :)

Kudos OWD. I remember the Howie Long commercial for Radio Shack with BG playing in the background. At one time when they were selling Sharp TV's Galactica was also featured. The ad ran, "Big Sharp's or little Sharp's," as Vipers blasted away at Raiders
We ain't finished yet.

So should we email them or do it the old fasion way or should we do both? I think they might be tickled pink to know that we took notice and it might make them do more with original Galactica for commercials. :)

Worth mentioning:
Repost from scifiwire.com:
Fans of the original Battlestar Galactica TV series announced that they have raised $10,000 to buy national advertisements urging series creator Glen A. Larson and X-Men producer Tom DeSanto to develop a theatrical feature film that picks up the story where the 1970s TV series left off. The fan campaign, organized by The Colonial Fan Force, is a reaction to the SCI FI Channel's upcoming original series Battlestar Galactica, which picks up the story from the Galactica miniseries that aired last December, reimagining the show with a new cast and new premise.
The campaign plans to buy ads in the September issue of Cinescape magazine and the Sept. 17 edition of Daily Variety. The campaign also urges fans to write letters.
SCI FI's Battlestar Galactica, starring Edward James Olmos and Mary McDonnell, is currently in production in Vancouver, B.C., and is expected to premiere in January 2005.

Seriously it's all about visibility, while people are doing things like this, they should be congratulated and encouraged. Things like this means the show's out there and still alive.

Yup, I use to be not so bad at gearing things up and joining in on the campaigns in the past but then I started recording the second CD for my band and producing another for some one else and plus the Audio continuation. My time went way down to nothing but I'm soon going to clean my plate again so that I can join in again and do more .
My only fear is that someone will use us yet again to show that there is still people interested in Galactica and they will make another show that has mostly nothing to do with it.
We are the reason Galactica was popular enough to do again but we are not the target audience. Oh well, It's water under the bridge now and I respect those that are fans of the new Moore production, I just don't like having us being used.

Update on Radio Shack contact info:
The responsibility for BG appearing in the ads may go to a RS, Sr. VP for Advertising who has been pro-active in using pro-space exploration imagery in their ads. Trying to get the VP's name so emails can go to their attention.
Their ad agency is Carat-Freeman Interactive. They have many offices but since my friend that's a model/actor in Dallas gets Radio Shack jobs often, I'm guessing that's the office that handles Radio Shack's business.

She'd probably appropriate to direct it to as she'd be likely to pass the feedback on to whomever it would best go to. And telling her nicely whether you want them to consider sponsoring the new series/warning them that you don't plan on watching--well these are the people that buy the commercial time. You get the idea. ;)

Hi guys I believe this is the man you are looking for...
Jim McDonald
Senior Vice President
and Chief Brand Officer
Click To Download A High Resolution Photo (http://www.radioshackcorporation.com/media/archives/mcdonald.zip)
A 28-year veteran of the world of advertising and marketing, Jim McDonald joined RadioShack in January 1998 and was named Chief Brand Officer in 2003.
Prior to joining RadioShack, McDonald served for four years as the Senior Vice President and RadioShack's Account Director for Young & Rubicam's The Lord Group. While he worked for this New York-based advertising agency, RadioShack's initial brand repositioning advertising and the tagline –- "You've Got Questions. We've Got Answers." – were introduced. Some of the other brands McDonald has worked on over his career include Pizza Hut, Ford, Lincoln-Mercury, Chevron, The Westin Hotels, Gulf, IBM, Stouffer's, Wurlitzer, Homart Malls, Compaq, RCA, Sprint, MSN and the Texas Commerce banking network.
Before his work on RadioShack, McDonald was based with Young & Rubicam in San Francisco and headed up the advertising for Chevron and its more than 13,000 retail gasoline, food mart and car care outlets.
McDonald initiated a celebrity advertising campaign for RadioShack to contemporize the brand. RadioShack's family of spokespersons includes Howie Long, Vanessa Williams Shaquille O'Neal and others. The addition of new celebrities has been instrumental in keeping the highly successful campaign fresh and unexpected.
McDonald considers one of his biggest accomplishments the RadioShack Father's Day commercial filmed in 2001 on the International Space Station; and working with the Russian Space Agency that made this first commercial done on the ISS possible.
In 1975 McDonald earned a bachelor of journalism with honors from the University of Texas at Austin, followed by a master of arts in advertising in 1980. In 2003, Jim McDonald was named the Outstanding Alumnus of the University of Texas School of Communications.

OWD, I am confused as heck. Why have a postathon at skiffy when they ignored us in the first place. I can't see them changing their version to fit our needs. Perhaps another letter writting campaign to Larson/DeSanto would do the trick. Larson is the key to getting the thingy done. Hopefully they (the Larson's) will also put up a Bg forum in the future then POSTATHON, POSTATHON would be of value.

Kingfish,
A Post-A-Thon will do wonders for the original fans right now. It feels like someone dropped a heavy object on us and we went Splat! We're beginning to get together again, and that can only do us good. Besides, Post-A-Thons are a lot of fun.
We need a central theme for the messages. We don't have a petition to talk about, and we've raised the money for the ads.
As far as the event being held at SciFi, OWD started a board there solely for TOS. Why not build a board right there in their backyard? They have what they want - the mini and the new series. Let's work to get what we want - a MOVIE. And I just answered the question in my second paragraph --- LOL.

My main reason for wanting to have it there is this,
If we can get more posts on a board for the original then there is on what is now a board for the mini, it will prove a point to those that happen apon this or any other Galactica site that has us promoting it.
Especially if we do it in one day. I don't expect to get Sci fi's attention but if we do, I expect them to do something they are famious for when it comes to how they have handled this fan base. That's not being bitter, that's just speaking the truth.
But above all, I , just the others, want to do this for old time sake and have a good time.

If one is looking for a central theme then I would say, "And so it begins," since this is hopefully the beginning of achieving the ultimate goal, a Larson continuation BG movie.

These are both GREAT ideas! Thomas and Cmdr Taggart, are ya around? Is there a possibility we could list a brief msg atop the CFF and CF main pages with the Radio Shack addies? They answered me wonderfully too, from a real person not a machine...
When someone gives you candy, you say THANKS so next time you visit they'll be likely to give you another... ;)
P.S. I'm a BIG Radio Shack customer. I would hate to live in a town without one (those are the two things I look for - a good pizza place and Radio Shack). When I was young, I went there almost weekly for electronic doodads for my car stereo, calculators for college and my brother's CB habit (ah, the memories). Later when I got married I frequented them for cables and what nots for my home stereo/TV amateur theater system.
Now I go there for computer stuff and home theatre cabling. There's no better place in my estimation. If I want inexpensive stuff, they've got it. If I want gold plated component video cables, they've got those too. WHere else can you find a digital optical TOSLink cable on short notice? (Hah! A plug for our favorite musician OWD!!!).
I say lets thank the gift horse with some sugar...

"Are new people welcome? If yes since we are new can you tell us more about what is involved? What do you say? etc. Thanks"
"I would like to be involved as well and have similar questions.........."
Everyone is welcome that is a fan of the original series. Most boards are welcoming the new series fans and that's okay. We who are fans of the original, and only the original, wanted our own place to post, and feel free to say what we pleased without offending anyone. OWD started TOS board at SciFi for that reason.
A Post-A-Thon usually lasts 24 hours. We post continually during that time. We had one to get names on a petition once, that one lasted a week. We went all over the net, leaving posts on every board that would allow it. Very often we'd stop back on the home board, which was at SciFi, and post where we had been. We got 6000 names on that petition that week. It was exhausting! But so much fun.
At the end of that week, I looked back over the posts and found one of mine that I liked so I copied and kept it with some letters in a folder. When I come across it now I still laugh about how crazy it was. Here it is:

From: ojai22
I posted on the Terminal Hack and Phreak Bboard. Seemed appropriate. However, I passed on the ComingOut of the Closet Board. I thought they'd be too busy to notice on the Unassisted Childbirth BBoard.
At www.yforum.com/ I was offered a book entitled:
"Why do white people smell like dogs when they
come out of the rain?" Passed on that, too.
Replied to a reply at the Movie Cat's Pad at MovieForum.
Replied to a BSG discussion started two days ago by someone else by leaving the petition.
Posted the petition at www.cinephiles.net on their discussion forum.
Became a member of www.forumplanet.com/planetquake/ but couldn't figure out how to post. Nothing to click on. I'm a member of gamespy now, with an icon and everything.
The bruised.net forum board was out but I sent a message to bruised@bruised.net.
I typed Bboard Forum into a search engine and found all this terrific stuff. Somewhere In all that confusion I remember a little button that said "Where am I?" I'm going back to find it now. It is imperative that I find it now.

Ojai22,
Thank you for answering and thanks for sharing your post that was fun to read!:)
After reading your old post I get a much better idea and I now understand the concept for a petition but what would we say this time. The little organizer that lurks inside of me is asking why not become members of these boards a couple days in advance so that the day you post that is all you have to do and not spend time setting up accounts that would allow us to hit a lot more places with our message.
Do more than one of you post on the same board? or do you get there and look to see if someone has all ready been?
do you decide in advance who's taking which boards ie divide them up amongst yourselves?
when I put in "bboard forum" in Yahoo I get 28,000 hits  just a thought but if we each took 3-4 pages @ 20 sites per page and if we get through those then just announce it at the home board, pick the next batch of pages announce it and start posting and that way we wont be doubling up our efforts, just a thought ...maybe that is how you all ready do it I have no idea since I've never seen this done but it sounds like fun and I'd be willing to help.
Ojai22 just for the record I'm a passionate fan of the original BSG but I also like the "new one" although I don't think of it as BSG just a Sci Fi show with a few odd similarities LOL! ;) :D

Rowan, that's okay. I don't mind the fans of the new, to me it's just another show, not BG-related, as I know BG.
I think for this Post-A-thon we were talking about just posting on that board at SciFi, TOS Board. We post whatever thoughts we have about the show, what we'd like to see in the movie. Reply to other fans posts. Just one post after another, saying whatever you feel.
I don't know what the plans are for this one, I'm hoping OWD will stop by and give more details. And yes, by all means, go there and register. Leave a test post to make sure you're signed in properly. We're posting there now, and have been for a few months.
