Two Sci-Fi Wire articles appeared on Hatch's involvement with the new BSG.
Yes, negotiations are proceeding between Hatch & Moore, and they are in the final stages of getting Hatch on board.
Here are the links to the two SciFiWire articles:

Interesting article. I find it real interesting that the subject was brought up and not brushed aside prior to the minis original release.
I see SCIFI says the new series isn't coming out until first quarter 2005. That's too bad. I was hoping to see more this summer or fall. I guess they won't be able to claim they were rushed.

Yes, those air dates are correct.
David Eick unofficially confirmed this & so did RDM.
I posted a teaser of the Eick interview that I did yesterday up at galactica2003.
You might find it of interest.

Just because Richard is on the show is not going to make me want to watch it.

I'm with you 100%. I am planning on watching whether he is there or not! :D
In all seriousness: If the show sucks I'll let you know and I'll join you! If it's good I'll let you know and hope you join me! ;)

I didn't think he would sign on. Well, I've been wrong before. Not often, but once or twice.

Except in the minds of so many of us the word "good" and this series can not possibly exist in the same sentence just by virtue of its existence.
I'm a bit of a newcomer to this forum, antelope, so I'm not too familiar with the arguments you've made in the past a miniseries defender/supporter so at some point for my benefit, I'd like to hear you make the case for it and maybe we can have a reasonable discussion on it in another thread. Now that we're four months removed from it airing, I know I'm in a lot more calm frame of mind to debate its merits than I was in the time leading up to it and when it aired.

To give these fools ratings again would show ignorance on fandoms part. Like Scotty said, "Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me." I watched that trash once when it aired. Sorry not again. I hurt myself badly. The mini was garbage that used the name of a great sci fi concept. Why Richard would even want to be on it is beyond me and a slap to all of the fans who have contributed their valuable time to BG. :thumbdown

I wouldn't take whatever Richard Hatch does personally or consider it a slap in the face.
If he is the sincere man most people on this site say he is whatever he does is what he perceives to be in the best interest of Battlestar Galactica. Even if he is wrong his heart is in the right place. :)
If he is not the sincere man most people want to believe  than he is an out of work actor late in his career who could use the work and exposure. It isn't personal, directed at the fans, or a slap in the face. It's simply how he makes his living. You can't fault a man for trying to earn a living. He's an actor and public speaker not "Apollo".
