That's right, folks... as of 5:30 Eastern time today, the CFF Fund topped $1,000.00! That's $1,000.00 raised in just a little over one week!
We da fanbase! Woo Hoo!
Hey, Muffit... it was your contribution that edged us over. ;) Thought you'd like to know that.
Remember folks, every little bit counts... donate what you can, when you can... we're on our way! There are those who still believe!

Just out of curiosity... what happens to the leftover money if you don't acheive your goal? Will it be returned? And if you happen to reach your goal, what will happen to any excess?

Good questions, Thomas. The following is a re-post of my response to a similar set of questions at Media Blvd. and at BattlestarGalacticaClub.com:
As far as what happens if we don't raise our full goal by our deadlines, remember that we are looking at two ads at $5,000 apeice. If we raise only $8,000, then we will buy one of the two ads that we want, and take out a second ad in whatever national publication we can find that we can afford at $3,000. If we raise $17,000, we'll look for a third publication that we can afford at $7,000.
Financial responsibility lies with myself, and Peter Noble (aka Bishop37). Peter is the one who is collecting and logging payments at the UK address, before sending them on to me for final deposits. I am collecting and logging US payments at the Virginia address, and overseeing the PayPal account. The accounting firm of Augusta Accounting in Staunton, VA, is overseeing me, and a financial report will be made available to anyone who wants to see it.
CFF has it's own Federal Employer Identification Number, which has been used to open the CFF's checking account, and under which all tax info will be reported to the IRS. The CFF has been created as a sole proprietership under my legal name, William I. Gordon. Understand that this means that CFF will have to spend EVERY SINGLE CENT IT RAISES, or I will personally incurr any and all tax liabilty.
When the money is collected, I will be the one cutting the checks to VARIETY and CINESCAPE. I have set this thing up as carefully and by the book as possible, with constant input from Augusta Accounting. I don't want there to be any confusion, misunderstanding, or concern regarding how the money is being handled.
I don't want anything to detract from the ultimate goal, which is to buy these ads, and see this movie.

Broke the comma barrier in just over a week. Keep that up and we'll hit our goal with time to spare.

I'd just like to extend my thanks to Muffit, one of the brightest stars in the firmament of BSG fandom!
I'd also like to say, if you haven't made a donation yet, please, PLEASE do! Send that message out loud and proud to those with the power to make a 25 year dream a reality!
All the best,
Peter
P.S. As of today, I have not had any donations through the post for CFF. There's still plenty of time yet though. ;)

Thanks Tag. :)
I know its not included, but I hope you spend a small bit of it on a cheap visit to an accountant. I don't know if this can qualify as a non-profit organization or not. It is a kind of charity. But I wouldn't want to see you suddenly strapped with a couple of thousands of tax to pay off. I remember the first year I was in business for myself I didn't know about self employment tax. And that was a big $10,000 suddenly hitting me hard in the bank account.
I wouldn't want to see you get stuck with a penalty. So please take appropriate precautions. ;)

Thanks, Thomas. I really do appreciate that. I have an accountant working on the project pro-bono. He's not really a Galactica fan, but he loves helping out the underdog. His name is Wayne, and he runs a little accounting firm called Augusta Accounting in Staunton, VA. He's advising me every step of the way on this thing.
The other expenses (PO Box, Domain Registration, Business License, etc., everything but the PayPal service fees) I'm paying myself, so that 100% of all donations goes to purchase the ads.

Thank you both, Cmdr Taggart and Peter, for the very kind words(!) :)
I only wish I could donate more. (If things go better for me in the near future I will ;) ).
Thank you all for being such kind friends. Long live CFF!!! May our dream of a continuation movie come true!!! :D

We're going to make our goal, Muffit. I've got no doubt about it. We're going to buy our ads, and we're going to send our message. God bless.
