Hello:
I'm a long time reader but first time poster, and a big fan of TOS.
Since I'm new to this, I will make mistakes but they will be honest
ones . I'm 43 and just learning my way around a new computer.
By the way, I accidently signed the continuation petition twice.
Sorry, but as I said I'm somewhat new at this.

Hello Packard400/ I'm very new here too, but have found this board have a lot of great fans of BSG in general. Lot's of perspective/open discussion/debate, and a lot of knowledge can be found here from the things I've read so far. I considerate it a real privilage to be the company of so many great fans. Hope you like it here as well. Cheers! :D

Welcome to Fleets! I know how you feel about the "new PC" thing, I owned one until 3-4 years ago. Don't be afraid of making mistakes - we don't grade on spelling or anything. Not on the first 50 posts, anyway (kidding!). Just dive in and have some fun! Look for topics that interest you and give those a go for starters... If you have any questions, there's always the "How To" forum, or you can ask Tom or any one of the Mods.
We're the same age by the way, but not for long - I'm aging fast! I'm intrigued by your screen name - care to share the background with us? Just an ice-breaker topic....
I hope that you enjoy your stay here at Fleets - It's one of the the best BSG sites on the net!
Best regards,
Bryan

Hi Mark,
Welcome! and to add a word of wisdom to what the great wise guru said, beware any beverage served by beavers in the cafe, the yellow koolaid from a bucket is a BIG no-no (think yellow snow ;) ).
Enjoy yourself, dive in and have a good time!

Thanks to everybody for the kind welcome. As to my screen name, it refers to the
Fire Opal & Onyx 1955 Packard 400 2-door hardtop which I've owned for almost
10 years. I'ts not quite finished, but it's getting there. I wish I could show you some pictures, but I havent figured that part of my computer out yet.
P.S. At least Ron Moore didn't get his hands on it. It would have ended up only driving backwards.
All my best,
Mark :warrior:

I can't wait for you to figure out a way to get a pic of your "baby" posted - I just knew that you're screen name was based on a car, but I'll be damned if I know what that kind of car looks like. The oldest car I've ever owned was a '65 Mustang, but I appreciate older cars too..... I'm a certifiable car nut!
Welcome again!

Mark,
The Packard was a gorgeous car. Those were the days of true style. Was the '55 a straight 8 too?

THE 1955 Packards were the first Packards to use a V-8. The 122" w.b. Clipper Deluxe,
Clipper Super, and Clipper Panama used an all new 327 cubic- inch V-8. The
Clipper Customs had the same w.b. but used the also new 352 cubic-inch V-8
which powered the top of the line Packards. The high priced Packards sat on
a 127" w.b. and were the Patrician 4-door Sedan, the 400 2-door Hardtop, and
the Caribbean Convertible. As I said, the big Packards used the 352 V-8, but
used a different carburetor to boost the horsepower.
P.S It is an honor to comunicate with the always honorable Muffit.

Wow, thank you so much for the kind words ;). And thanks for the info on the engine. Didn't know that. I got interested in older cars when some friends of mine were "modeling" at an antique car show. There were some really gorgeous cars in the old days. I even saw one with a straight 12 - that was amazing! (I forget which make). My personal fav is the '41 Ford Deluxe Business Coupe. I understand they're pretty rare due to WWII. Of course, the Packard was the elite of the elite unlike the lowly Ford; it's so neat you have one.
Talk to you soon!

Welcome to CF! Please remember, not everyone here hated the mini! I thought it was great TV and very worthy of the Galactica name.
