Before the site went down, there was a thread which discuss label for different groups. Although I don't agree with labeling a person, it would help to create something simple for each project.

Here is my suggestion.

I clearly understand what TOS means and have no problem with it for the original series. It's very simple.

Now for the new series, how about RMbsg (Ron Moore's Battlestar Galactica), and for the other projects RHbsg (Richard Hatch) and bsgGAL (Battlestar Galactica Glen A. Larson).

Richard Hatch could also have CONbgs (continuation).

I don't mean these as labeling a person but using them a reference when having a discussion about different projects.

I know there will be more discussion/information on each of these project and I look forward to it.

Just a thought.

Hi nccdee!

Someone mentioned nuBSG once, that was pretty good...

Some acronyms:
Richard's trailer is BSG:TSC or BSG:T2C for BSG: the second coming (title of the trailer)

the new mini is more often called G03 or BSG2003 or some similar variant

Galactica 1980 is usually G80.

Once the site's fully back up, there probably will be different categories, similar to what we used to have. Conundrum has a lot of updating to do since this is all new software.

Labels (or abbreviations) are nice but, can be confusing if they're not already at least partially in use. Like you mentioned, nccdee, TOS (and BSG) are ones that everyone know. I've seen some cases where the mini-series has been referred to as RDMBSG but, most often, just simply, the mini. Additionally, Richard's "The Second Coming" trailer has been referred to as TSC and the hoped for Larson/DeSanto project has, at times, been referred to as L/D.

Whatever is decided upon, has to be easy to use and remember. Labels or abbreviations probably won't catch on if the "learning curve" is too long.

:)

Note: Jewels, you beat me to it. hehehe
I forgot about G03 and ((shudder)) G80. (Sorry, Peter and Stevew) :D

TSC for Richard has is simple enough. L/D that would confuse two separate projects into one. G80, no mistake, as it short for the actual title. As for the mini, well it no longer a mini and G03 seem dated.

How about BSG75?

Was there an official announcement of a production schedule yet? (we learned not to believe anything until someone walks onto a soundstage--Hollywood rumors are barely worth the breath they take to repeat. And if SciFi is still "no comment" & Ron hasn't said anything yet--don't bank on an immediate series start. With the approaching VU/NBC merger and the cash that may have to be paid to Diller to finance booting him out, Nothing at Studios USA, USA network or SciFi is a given. They already have $600 mil. in cuts to make and buying out Diller will add another $250-$700 million to that.

nccdee (I like your name!) -

It's not bad that you are being optimistic and positive.... The majority of the BSG fanbase has been in this position before and as a group have learned to be cautionary and will wait until further developments are evident before jumping in with both feet. The new series really is coming along at a time when things at SciFi/Universal are in a period of a major financial change considering the merger with GE/NBC.

Your enthusiasm is great, but the fact that SciFi is dragging its feet making an official announcement is making a lot of people a bit wary as to what and when they will do something with BSG as a series. For some, it's like waiting for the other shoe to drop... The downside to this is if SciFi doesn't press forward soon, the likelyhood of a new series this year will probably not happen until early '05. If that happens, you will be waiting quite a while for results.

It will probably work out as you hope, but right now there will be a definite lull on the news front until a decision and announcement are made. Just hang out with us and feel free to post away, but until there is more news, that leaves precious little to chew on for now.

Best regards,
Bryan

L/D that would confuse two separate projects into one.

The general consensus, as of now, is that it will be a collaboration, not 2 separate projects.

No need for apology. ;) To echo what Bryan/Gemini said, we've been to the brink, only to have the rug pulled out from under us, at the last minute. If nothing else, we're sympathetic towards you regarding Sci-Fi's indecision.

Correction? Bah. I was hoping there finally WAS solid news! IF is a torturous word.
We know, we've been living in IF for a while. Hopefully both of our IFs are really WHENs. (If I didn't believe that for a continuation movie, I'd lose heart--don't lose heart if they back your series off to '05).

Could this be a new language?

BGGL, pronounced BigGal, for the old Glen A Larson show, or BG1 (BigOne)

BG80, pronounced BigEighty, for the 1980 sequel

BG2C, pronounced BigTwoSee, for the Richard Hatch Second Coming Trailer

BG-D or BGD, pronounced BigDee, for the Tom DeSanto revival

BGRM, pronounced BigRim, for the new Ron Moore show? (Or BG03,BigThree)

:D

I call the BG instead of BSG. After all, its not Battle Star Galactica. ITS BATTLESTAR Galactica.

Now I call it BG1, BG80, BG2C, BG-D, and BG03

:D

I posted that thread about it
