View Full Version : How about a filter?

Since ugly messages of one sort or another have been a problem, and since a private BBoard is free to control its own discussion any way it wants to, how about preparing, in advance, a list of general categories of offenses that are not welcome at this BBoard. (Possible categories: foul language, character attacks, serious charges without factual evidenc. Even just generally being a jerk, as defined by the boss of this BBoard.) Post the list somewhere. Let your moderators read the posts, as I presume they have always done, and if a post is offensive, delete it (including deleting any trace that it ever existed) and send the poster a canned explanation of why his/her post was removed. Two or three repetitions, and that username and e-mail address is automatically locked out. This would save time, by not requiring a specific, personal answer to each bad post.
I cannot believe (well, I can, but I wish I couldn't) that ill-mannered posters would/could drive away somebody as positive and helpful as Aaron Douglas. We need to get him back, and other like him. And keep them.

In the long run it's up to me to be the filter. Again, free speech until you inflict your own will onto either me or any of the posters. Then the gloves are off.

I must have missed something. When was Aaron driven away. Many were nice to him. I believe that he has a bright future in acting. He is in John Woo's latest movie. John Woo is one of the greatest action directors to date.

I don't know. I've seen Aaron's acting before. He's a great actor .........
with a lot of potential. The only exception to my seeing his acting is in
the mini ......which I missed. I never had a problem with his acting or
with John Olmos' acting for that matter.

I hope that Aaron decides to stay. He is a credit to actors, coming here and mingling with the fans. How many actors would do that? Not many at all. He's top notch in my books. :)

I too welcome Aaron back here and apologize to him for the things that have gone on here during the last week. It was never my intention to have things go the way they did but in my reading of Aaron's postings i do believe he brings energy not only to the mini fans but i truely can see his passion for Galactica.
Besides, i didn't treat his being here with enough enthusiasm especially when i had a hand in building those ships he has to fix all the time!

Titon, maybe if you had built them better, he wouldn't have had to keep repairing them so much?
