RDM provides update on co-production rumors

RDM provided an update via email, in response to talk of a co-production deal currently going on in the Aaron Thomas thread.


All I can tell you at this point is that we're still in the thick of the discussions regarding budget and the finances involved. The good news is that both studio and network want to make this happen, so at least it's not about trying to convince them that the show is worth doing. The bad news is that it's about number crunching and arcane points of television deficit financing, broadcast windows, etc. Bottom line: it's still up in the air and I doubt there'll be a definitive decision before the end of the month.

What are they going to do with the actors? Extend the options again?

Maybe this is just an episode of Scare Tactics.

It might be interesting to see if there are any new developments.
I am just curious, not anxious (before I am accused of the latter).

Here is RDM's response to an email query on the Cinescape 6-episode report:

There has not been an order for 6 episodes or any other number yet. We're still in financial discussions with the studio and network and no decision has been made, but should be made this week. While I don't really know whether a physical office has been opened in Vancouver -- which doesn't really matter one way or the other, since an office could be opened in order to coordinate striking the sets and seeing to the final disposition of wardrobe, props, etc. just as easily as to set up for preproduction -- I do know that no "show-runner" has been hired, other than myself.

That's good. The wait won't be too much longer.
My guess is still that it'll go. Otherwise, how do you justify the inordinate amount of time they have spent on BSG in the last month?

Most of the activity seems to be on these boards. Not a peep out of Sci-Fi except "nothing has been green-lighted."

Take a deep breath, everybody. It ain't over 'till the fat lady sings, and the fat lady is Sci-Fi - who hasn't sung a note - yet.
