Yipee, I just got to post my avatar. I've been waiting to do this....
What's that?
Why it's Dirk Benedict and Katee Sackoff sitting together smiling and enjoying a nice cup of joe.... and a cigar.
OH THE HUMANITY!
(sorry continuation fans, I couldn't resist)
Know, can we knock off all this "my side, your side, my side, your side!" and just enjoy what we've got.
:salute:

Maybe a moderator can answer this one... why is it that newbies on the boards can't get avatars? Yeah - it's a whiney question, but I think the avatars have a lot of personality and I hate being left out.

I understand that it is really just a matter of how many posts you make. I can think of any number of perfectly reasonable reasons for the mods to wait to give someone an avatar.

Crys,
A "threshold" of 25 posts has been CF's general policy. It was done like this so that avatars would go to people who were going to be "regulars" here and to avoid tying up forum resources for "1-shot" posters.
Since you seem to be here for the long haul...to upload an avatar, go to the tabs just below the banner and click on:
Preferences
Edit Options
Scroll down
Change Avatar
Click YES on radio button for Custom Avatar
Then, type in the path, on your computer, for the pic that you want to upload.
The only constraints about the avatars are that they are not more than 120x120 pixels and no more than 5K.
Otherwise, enjoy!

PS - that goes for you, too, beeker! :)

Thanks. :) I may do that. Darth Marley offered me a beeker (from the muppets) avatar, and I may take him up on that.

Beeker (from Muppets) was one of my favorites! Hmmmm. Now a Muppets show Box Set DVD would be a cool thing....wonder if they thought of that yet?

I think they are offering muppets on dvd,but not boxed.Kind of like a "we send you a disc once a month until you cancel" deal.
And,Beeker,I do have it,and it is acceptable size.I stole it from someone else.

Thanks BST, but no go. I get as far as that last step, and for some reason it won't let me "uncheck" the no for custom avatar. Maybe it's automated to number of posts or something. Oh well, as you said... I'm in for the long haul, so eventually I'll get there.

with the attitude of "what will happen, will happen. You can't force anything to be the way you want it." Katee doesn't have that kind of grace that allowed him to meet with her nor does she have anything I want to "deal with" as she put it on the Low Down stating her attitude about being "Starbuck." I don't have anything against her personally, she's just not what I'd rather have to see, plus she needs to mature quite a bit. Ahh, ignorance and youth.
Just my opinion,
Carolyn

Hi,
Notice how calm Dirk is in that picture, and how desperate Katee is? I watched their interview during the mini-series "Lowdown" preview, and that feeling pervaded the entire interview.

Nathan

Dirk just kinda strikes me as calm in general. I think he is so at ease it completely rattled her. And maybe she looked at his Imdb listing and started realizing he's costarred with the likes of Gloria Swanson and Moses (Charlton Heston).

I think a Muppets box set is coming out in spring. I saw a pre-order for it at Suncoast. I don't know if it's the Muppet Show, or Muppets tonight, but, I'll get it when it comes out!:D

Do you really blame her? She took a lot of bashing from "fans" about taking the roll - it isn't her fault they wrote it for a woman. I think she was probably really nervous about what kind of a reception she would get. Oddly, he handled it a lot better (or at least more generously) than many fans. Me... I think she's terrific.

At any rate, here's the scoop about the avatars:

Sorry it took so long to get back to you,

PS - It still has a 25 post threshold (you're at 20 now so, only a few more) :)

Well said,I was trying to think of a polite way to put this observation.
EJO had some things to say about being surprised about the hate mail he recieved.I am confident KS has seen a few choice words thrown her way.

Hey Crystal!
Avatar uploading was temporarily because our bandwidth from the miniseries went through the rough. And we had to do some cutbacks and cost saving manuevers. But we are now on a new billing cycle. :D
Avatar uploads are back. We are sorry about the inconvenience.
I also am glad you were able to handle your problems during registration. I tried to contact you but had troubles with emails. My emails bounced off your server. It said you weren't accepting emails from me. But I'm glad things are working now.

Very well said indeed.
And it's a shame there are "fans" out there who would send an actor hate mail full of venom and spite. I really feel for her. She was awesome in the role.

Thanks so much for your efforts - I actually did get the private message. Since that mess I've figured out how to work the spam controls so that instead of bouncing, unknown e-mails go into a seperate folder and I can check them later. I didn't mean it to be inconvienient, but if I get one more "viagra" advertisement, debt cosolidation offer, or testimonial on "Sonata" I'm gonna go nuts! ;)

crys, why don't you do what I do? I keep my personal email address hidden from all but friends. But get a second free account at hotmail. Hotmail has some pretty good spam filters. When I have to register or give an email address somewhere, I use the hotmail account.

Thanks so much to Tom and BST for all the help. For once, being mouthy actually got me something besides an injury. No wonder I like Starbuck so well <g>.
I borrowed the Avatar from a friend - I have no skill in designing such stuff - but isn't it neat! ;)
Okay - I'll shut up now.
