Here's a paragraph from the article:
''Die-hard fans of old television shows drove one of the year's most remarkable DVD trends. DVDs of dusty dramas such as Battlestar Galactica and even a quickly canceled series like Firefly proved immensely popular, helping generate $1.5 billion in domestic sales of repackaged TV shows (programming that failed entirely in the videocassette's heyday).''

That's good news for the Sci-Fi execs who are still deciding on the series & whether it has the viewership they want on a week-to-week basis.
After all, old & new fans are not mutually exclusive of each other.
And this should make the mini a pretty good seller too.

Well, uh how much are they there?? I've found a set on e-bay today and it was at $80- something bucks! I can't drop that kinda dough now. Just bought 4 more BSG models off of e-bay and that was rough after X-mas! (whispering..to you) I have the tread! LOL:D ;)

The set is that high.
I;ve just seen the first of the six discs (front & back) and can say its worth every penny.
They have a commentary by Hatch & Benedict for the pilot movie & then deleted scenes from each and every episode.
Plus, if you have a home theater system and a progressive scan DVD- WOW! Its one of the most awesome series depicted on the screen.
GEt your friends to pitch in.
Its worth it!

Yes, it's that much. In fact, $83.99 at amazon.com and they're usually a little below others in price.
[What thread?] :-)))))

I'd swear, I was just giddy as a school-girl when I received the DVD set.:D
I just watched The Hand of God and Fire in Space last night and I'm still dang excied to have this.
Universal may have fracked up the Spyro series with Enter the Dragonfly, but at least they did something right. THANK YOU!:D  :D

I got mine and was pleased for the most part. I wasdissapointed that the DVDs pictured on the box had artwork that was missing from the DVDs inside my box (gold side/silver side). Also the Hatch/Benedict commentary was missing from the bonus materials on disk 1 side 1.
But I must say that I enjoyed watching the whole series start to finish and find that as an adult I enjoy the series as much as I did when I was that little kid in '78.

You have to go the Special Features part of the menu & click "On" to the commentary to hear the actors!
It's there. Just look for it.
And enjoy!
