did I see it correctly, or does THIS Galactica have manned turrets?

I saw the equivalent of SCIFI antiaircraft/missile turrets but I never saw anything that would confirm either way whether they were manned or unmanned. I would think someone or something had to load them but I see no reason they couldn't be fired remotely.

Considering how fast space craft are moving, the sheer numbers of potential enemy craft and the fact that the Colonials are advanced technologically, I would expect that the gun turrets are automated defensed run by "targeting type computers."

Of course, it could be argued that the Colonial Vipers and the Cylon Fighters were "manned", not remote controlled, And if the fighter pilots can attain and fire at targets quickly enough, why not turret gunners?

So... I still say remote controlled turrets! :) :)

They looked manned to me. Whatever the tactical advantages for having remote controlled turrets is offset by the tactical disadvantage of having such an important system networked.

The whole design philosophy of the Galactica is that every computer is an independent system, with absolutley no way to connect to the other computers. Remote controlled turrets would require all of the turret computers to be linked to a central computer.

What gave folks the impression the turrets were manned? I just assumed they were computer controlled.

If you looked at the scenes where they swung out for action, you can see 3 people in the fire control room/cockpit(?) situated inbetween the 2 rail guns in the turret.;)
