Your passionate one way, there are others that are passionate the other way.
From another thread in this region of space.
What about those of us who are either not passionate or are major perverts--passionate both "ways"?
:D
I'm sure there has to be some room for us, somewhere...
I love the old burgers and dogs on a fourth-of-july weekend. But I also love a lobster thermidore nouveau-sauced with s slightly insouciant amontillado and water chestnut creation.
Why become a screaming cultist for one or the other? What is to be gained by any sort of extremism?

Oh god.... you aren't passionate but you are a major pervert!??!
Just joking!
To be honest. The main problem we have right now is some newbies come in proclaiming "there is a ___ problem." Quite frankly that becomes the problem.
If you take a deeper look, you will see that although people are arguing about the new vs old show, this is a pretty happy place. if you have a passion about one show or another, we don't really care as long as you treat others well. And most people can argue about the show and still enjoy each other.
The warfare, the hatred, all that is best left on scifi's own boards. We just like to be happy here. :D
So yes, ALL the rooms are reserved for non-fanatics. There's no room for nuts. All the rooms are reserved for people who want to have fun here!

It's sad to see that anyone gets upset at each other on the subject of Battlestar Galactica. Almost 95% of the post I see on the subject of TOS vs the mini by a "mini lover" usually starts or says something to the effect of "I LOVED TOS and I also love the mini!" Most mini fans ARE TOS fans. I am very happy Colonial Fleets started this positive forum for those of us who love both Galacticas. Unfortunately at most other Battlestar sites we were family a year ago and now we are unwanted. One site I won't name has now forced all mini talk onto one thread. I wonder how many Galactica fans will even be going there if a year from now there are more new Galactica episodes than TOS. Again---Thank you Colonial Fleets for having us all in a big tent! I can't imagine a Star Trek site that banned talk of TNG, DS9, Voyager, and Enterprise or put it all on one thread.

There's more bickering on the Trek boards than any other boards I've ever visited... except for unmoderated boards.

Bickering can be fun.
Those that refuse to even watch the mini, well,I don't fully understand that, but to each his own, said the woman as she kissed her cow.
When things take on a religious fervor, objectivity goes out the window.

Are we going to have to accept the designation of being "bi" fans?

Yeah, that's why I post on FC every now and then. :D
I don't understand that either. It really twists me.
"NO! I can't watch that. It's the work of the devil!! And his name is Moore."

Star Trek fans, no matter which show they like best, are part of the same family. Star Trek, The Next Generation, Deep Space 9, Voyager and Enterprise all share the same fictional universe. The same goes for Star Wars. The original trilogy and the prequels are part of the same story. Some fans may like the prequels over the originals or vice versa. But all the Star Wars films share the same galaxy. This cannot be said for Battlestar Galactica TOS and the mini. They are completely separate creative entities. They have absolutely nothing to do with each other. I feel that people who are pro mini are talking about a show that is unrelated to the original show. To talk about the mini is to talk about a science fiction show that is not TOS Galactica. It would be like talking about the X-Files or Lost in Space on a Battlestar Galactica site. It would not be relevant to the point of the site. I believe that the main thrust of this site should be The original series and that discussions about the mini should be under the non-Galactica heading.

I think as we can tell from the previous post some have still not figured out there is a pro-mini and an anti-mini forum. Please don't focus your anger for Moore at those of us who like the mini. We all loved the original series also. It may not be the Battlestar Galactica you like but it is Battlestar Galactica. If you saw the mini and hate it just like most of us hated Galactica 1980 I suggest you pretend it doesn't exist and ignore the mini forums and conversations. If the other Battlestar Galactica project ever gets made we will join you on the other forums and embrace you like the lost brother you (or we) are. For the time being this is the only Battlestar game in town. Let those of us who like it enjoy it in peace.
As for what is the main thrust of the site. I think it still is TOS. If they make a new series and the episodes are good over time the site will have more "new series" fans. If a new series sucks the subject will die away just like BG80. In the mean time more people have learned about the revival efforts by visiting this site over the past year thanks to the mini than I bet knew about it over the previous five. That must be good for the anti-mini crowd. If the mini proves there is a wide Galactica audience out there (and I don't mean just the hard core fans) Galactica has a future not just a past.
