ROUGH DRAFT, YOU GUYS CATCH MY DRIFT
These are the first words one see when accesses Letters:
Got a gripe about something going on in the science fiction world?

Yes I do have, “Got a gripe” The Scifi Channel’s Battlestar Galactica board is moderated, that in itself is not a bad thing. Allowing not a single post critical of The Scifi Channel’s version of Battlestar Galactica is censorship for avarice’s sake?

Edward James Olmos “Don't hurt yourself. Don't go through the pain". Comments or anything in anyway critical of the new Battlestar Galactica, premiered on Scifi on Dec.8th and 9th . Indeed since this link http://www.scifi.com/battlestar has the curious looking to that board, no posts critical of the new production are allowed. This has been posted on www.ascifi.com,

Oh yeah a link to RDM's 'Knock it the f*ck of post' would be gravy.

This is counterproductive. You should do as you must, but I don't think it's going to help.

I'm making efforts on that board - and getting positive feedback from Westy and generalchang (and yes, - you heard right - Farvoyager) to get beyond the "clone wars", the backbiting and personal attacks, and the "it sucks" posts, and to restore some sanity and civility there. There was heavy cloning on that board for about a week since the mini aired but it's died down and some (but not a lot) of intelligent discourse is returning.

The different groups of fans are learning to deal with each other at ColonialFleets and the Alliance and I'm hoping some of that can happen over there.

Let's be part of the solution and not stir the pot.

I couldn't have said it better myself, Larocque! The back-biting and in-fighting is doing more to hurt the cause and leave people believing TOS fans are 'off the deep end'.

It is time for all of us to turn the proverbial cheek and move forward, supporting BSG together as a collective fan base, not divisively.

Done John!

Far be it for me to cross, Security Chief Michael Garibaldi of Babylon 5, or is it to be Congressman Doyle?

While I agree that we need to discuss our differences calmly and in a manner that does not make us all seem like lunatics, I find the very idea that Sci-Fi would filter out posts critical of its product abhorrant.
And, (if it is truly happening) I think it is our moral duty to spread the word of it far and wide. We must help the posters on the Sci Fi boards who may be living under the impression that they are getting the unfiltered opinions of other posters there.

That said, I have no idea what is being advocated here. The thread title suggests that dvo47p is looking for help, but I'm not sure about what.

I get confused when people make the claim that posts critical of the mini aren't allowed on the scifi board, because I've read more than I can count on that board. I'm not entirely sure the "censorship" issue is exactly what some people believe it is on that board. I made a post concerning the amount of commercials, as people were upset about the supposedly copious amounts of advertising (although in actuality there weren't any more commercials than usual for a 4 hour block of television) and it didn't get through. I doubt it was censored, I instead think that they either felt it was redundant (as I had addressed it also in another thread) or it just slipped through the cracks under the volume they're dealing with. There are just too many scathing posts on that board for me to buy into the censorship issue.

I won't deny posts don't make it through, too many people complain about it for it not to be so. However, I can't support the claims that scifi won't let anti BSG03 comments through, because there are way way too many of them on the board. That's all I'm saying. I don't know why certain posts don't make it through, but the supposed censorship issue just doesn't stand up in light of the vast number of such posts on the board.

Yeah, this could be a lie to confuse us!

No New Galactica Series For Now

Sci-Fi not ready to commit to series order just yet.

December 23, 2003 - The success of Sci-Fi Channel's recent Battlestar Galactica re-imagining / re-make must have taken a number of people by surprise. Despite critical and fan lambasting, the mini drew impressive numbers for the cable channel, chalking up some of the best ratings in the network's history, so it seemed inevitable that a series order would be announced soon.

Earlier this week a number of web sites announced that just such an order had been inked. Not so, according to a spokesperson for the Sci-Fi Channel. While it still seems likely that there will be some action on the Galactica front, no orders for either a series or a sequel to the mini-series have come from Sci-Fi Channel. No decisions or orders for new episodes will happen until after the first of the year, so cool your jets, little Colonial Warriors.

Dvo .......... if you don't like the fact that the skiffy
board is censoring posts that are critical of the remake then
post here or on any number of Battle star galactica sites.

They censored a number of my posts also that's why I
don't post there any more. This was inspite of the fact
that I never attacked anyone .......used foul language and
was polite in my posts merely making the point that I would
not be allowing my children to watch anything that had
a TV14 rating.
