I posted this above. But please don't gloat or try to hammer tvseries fans out of here. Be a little sensitive when criticizing the old show. And please drop the names like "old schoolers".

The whole point here is to enjoy the shows. :D

I agree Conundrum. What is the goal of bashing others, seems like a waste of everyones time, and has never been an effective tool for discussion or debate.

Actually, I'm a terrific fan of the original series. As a child, I collected the cards, made the models, read every book and comic available. Yeah - I was hooked. That followed me into the computer age, when I discovered fanfic and was able to "continue" the series in some way.

As for the new series, I'm very intrigued. Apollo is still a little too self-righteous for my liking, but he always was. Starbuck isn't bad either, if different, and the dynamics there are very interesting. There seems to be a lot more concentration on the *people* rather than the admittedly spectacular effects. For example, it took two seconds to show what blowing out that fire did... and reference after reference to the people that had died... 85. I guess it just seems more real.

Unfortunately, the only fanfic I've found has been of the original series - not that I dislike it, but I'd like to see what fans are doing with the characters and loose threads that the series left. Does anyone know of any fan sites, boards, or e-mail groups that are developing NEW fanfic? I'm at a loss - haven't found a thing.
