Something we all can agree on. Boomer was cute.

She didn't have Herbs classy style. But she was a good actress. And dang atractive. Up there with a young maren or Laurette.

Kara Starbuck Thrace on the other hand could break mirrors. :)

I thought she was homely. The black comm gal would have made a better Boomer.

If I want to watch cute girls. What's needed is a good version of BG.

If you want to watch BEAUTIFUL women, just put in the original series!!!!!!!

Jane Seymour (possibly the most beautiful woman on earth)
Maren Jensen (those pics of her in uniform!)
Laurette Spang (that smile and that blonde hair!)
Anne Lockhart (wow!)
Sarah Rush (cute!)

and hey, even Siress Blassie was a very nice looking older woman!!

Need I say more????

The actress who played the character they called Boomer, in the show they called Galactica, was beautiful, and one of the only bright lights in the show. I liked her, just wished they hadn't called her Boomer.

I really could care less about the women. Where were the men in this mini series?! Normally, I like EJO, but I thought he was rather bland. And Apollo needs to get a cubit and buy some balls! Truly awful! :girl: :choco:

Dirk Benedict (hot hearthrob)

Dirk Benedict (hot hearthrob) did anyone else want to be Starbuck's girl for 1 evening? :D
Herb Jefferson (cool guy) The ultimate buddy
Lorne Greene (elder statesman) The ultimate "father knows best" dad, to the whole fleet.

We need to add:
Terry Carter: Dignity, Decorum (unless there's a hot triad match) and the best 2nd in command to helm a starship....

TOS men had class. But then so do the actual people that played them.

Well sorry guys but I liked her way before she did this. She was pretty good stargate sg-1. She is not only pretty but she can actualy act fiarly good to. Of all the major changes made haveing her play boomer is the the easyest to stomache.

Starbuck on the other hand. Plz it totaly ruined the character. On top of that this girl couldn't act her way out of a wet paper bag, AND she's realy not that pretty ether. At least not how they show her in this. AND!!! she's got a REALY bad attitude irl.

Anyway having met June Lockheart IRL at a Dixie Trek (gotta love working staff) Anne gets my vote for the cute chiq award...:) although damm its hard to pick one. there all VERY beautiful. Blah...

<---this is me strangleing Ron Moore...... sigh...

I think Grace Park is the best part of the show so far. I like her character the best, though the only thing that makes her like the old Boomer is her call sign, since he was an amazing pilot, and she is a rookie. The scene with her on Caprica was one of my favorite, though I am not sure about her adopting Boxie, though I can't picture this Apollo adopting anyone, or getting a date for that matter.

I don't like that the only character I really had any emotional involvement with has turned out to be the enemy.

With the seemingly lack of emotion from everyone on the whole mini-series! I would'nt be surprised to find out the whole crew of the Galactica had been secretly replaced by Cylons. No one even seemed to really care thier whole world had just been blown up!! Or that their Second son had just died!! The mini-series is 4 hrs of my life I want Back!!! You owe me 4 hrs SCI-FI!!!

They should have had her turn pale and have a headache at least from being in the cloud, since she is a Cylon after all.

December 10th, 2003, 11:48 AM
I agree, she was cute. About the only thing I liked about the show, then they turn her into a Cylon. Sheesh!!!

That "Raptor" looked pretty weak. I did like the flight uniforms, but what is up with wearing a tank-top over a t-shirt???? That makes no sense whatsoever. I guess they though a regular t-shirt or regular tank top would look too plain, so let's just put both together. Lazy, just like the rest of the outfits, and hey, if you are going to have guys wearing ties, can you please not have them wear ones from the 1970's?

jonahlee
December 10th, 2003, 02:38 PM
My question on the flight uniforms, is are they needed? They obviously have gravity control, since all the ships have gravity, down to the Viper and the Raptor. So couldn't that compensate for G-Forces?

Rally
December 10th, 2003, 09:26 PM
I hope your comment wasn't arguing that the original series uniforms were more functional. I just thought the new ones looked cool. I give props where they are due. Of course, not as good as the ones from the original show.

jonahlee
December 10th, 2003, 09:30 PM
I am not saying they were more functional, I am just do they really need suits for g-force since they have anti-gravity.

The Scifi Channel President Bonnie Hammer has some BATTLESTAR GALACTICA quotes:

“Well, BATTLESTAR is interesting because it worked well as its original series, It didn’t work as well as its second recreation. So what we want to do is a four-hour mini. Basically, give it a new life – maintain the franchise but modernize it and if it works in a mini, then we’ll develop it into a series. If in fact the audience says, ‘Been there, done that’ then we won’t go there.” Bonnie Hammer

Boomer was cute, Edward James Olmos was Patriarchal, Mary McDonnell was Presidential, James Callis was Horny, Tricia Helfer was a babe, Jamie Bamber was a Captain, Katee Sackhoff was a Top Gun and now they are all UNEMPLOYED!

That doesn't necessarily sound like unemployement to me. Sounds like that only if it did badly, and it didn't do that badly, so I bet they will give the series a go, I just doubt it will last.

I especially think they will give it a shot, since they already have the sets and costumes, so the series will cost a lot less to do than the mini-series.

Kate is a dog, Boomer is cute but skinney and most of the guys seemed like wussies. A far cry from the guys in the TOS and the great looking babes in the TOS

I have to go for Boomer for being the hotest of all the women, though not as good a character as Sheba or the other women from TOS, but I think Boomer is damn hot!

Moving past the bad idea of sex changes for Starbuck and Boomer, Grace Park as "Boomer" was indeed cute. I could find myself liking her in this role. However, both changing Boomer's sex and making Boomer the enemy vis a vis a sleeper Cylon agent is to me, going too far.

I could very relunctantly accept how they've given alot of character flaws to Apollo and Tigh and even Starbuck. But I can't accept Boomer as the enemy. At least all of the main characters still had basically the same roles as TOS, i.e. Adama is still the commander, Apollo is still a Captain and Adama's first born son, Starbuck is still a tough viper pilot, Tigh is sill the XO, and Baltar is still the betrayer albeit, unwittingly.

Sci-Fi should have brought back Firefly as a series instead of doing this crap!

From what I have heard that they are developing it into a feature at Universal which is currently listed at IMDB (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0379786/) (though that is far from certain that it will come out). Have you heard more about the show being started again?

Ah, the other fan, was there a Firefly board here & did we post on it?

Re: Park oh my one of the new generation born in space, oh well. Commader Apollo, Col. Starbuck, Col. Boomer, Col. Sheba Dr. Cassieopiea, Blue Uniform on 'Launch All Vipers', Rigel. What a wonderful galaxy, far, far from fruition, damnit.

To "maintain the franchise" in other words keep Larson away,or....

No time soon, Scifi has already got it's '04 schedule & Bonnie is talking to Spielberg, he loves those aliens are coming, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Taken genre. She moved Farscape's timeslot in order to spike it, save the $$$$ for Taken, or so The Lone Gunmen told me, they have a thing about being canceled, I wonder why?

I am watching Lost Planet of the Gods, and when the shuttle pilots become vipor pilots they are wearing suits for pulling g's that they wear under their combat uniforms, so the original series had the pressure suits, just under their uniforms.

They may have been cute.. but using the names was a disgusting bit of political correctness and that turns me off either of them and the whole thing. Too much Pc influence in Scifi nowadays. Must fight it. :)

Yep she is likeable! If they write her part well, she doesn't necessarily have to be an enemy, she could end up helping the colonials. But yeah, if they turn her into evil-traitor-type, then it will be boring.

Speaking of Katee S:

She may be rough around the edges...but not bad.

I guess everything is relative. To me, porcupines are a little rough around the edges. In comparison, I thought Ms. Sackhoff's performance and appearance in the mini-series might be equated to a gigantic, diamond tipped dental drill bit wrapped in razor-wire set spinning in an ultra-high speed industrial drill.
