Backstory:
Galactica Once again meets up with Pegasus. Galactica is destroyed with most of crew (important characters) making escape to Pegasus. Guess we've seen this before, huh?

Present day:
Insert DeSanto's basic story and substitute Galactica with Pegasus. Old cast returns and everybody is happy.

Seems rather simple, doesn't it?

I will support a Glen Larson Pegasas movie if that is what he wants to do.
It must be consistant with TOS though.
His Tod Moyer script is viable in my view if he got rid of the walking vipers and changed the Battle Star Atlantis to the Ark ship that took the 13th tribe to Earth. There is no reason it couldn't have more advanced technology than the Colonials. I'll even accept a story about retaking the colonies (although that isn't my preferred choice)

Mr. Larson got razzed over the Walking Vipers at Galacticon. :p hehe

At this point, I'd settle for a Glen Larson Pegasus movie, too, such as you mention: It must be consistent with the original BG series. Things do change, but the core of the original characters, ships, themes, etc. needs to be ever-present, not discarded.

Richard and Dirk aren't getting any younger, either (although they look damn good or their respective ages). It's time for this movie project to get going... Cast these two actors AT MINIMUM in their original roles.

Amazing how our collective wish lists diminish over time, faced with the reality that we won't get everything we want (even within reason).

:colwar: ...lamenting over what Tom DeSanto and Bryan Singer had planned to do... (sigh)

It would be nice if they published a writers bible of what was planned, in episode form, so we could see what could have been. It also would be neat if included all the costumes concepts and sets that were done!

Actually working on that, although I don't expect anything published until early 2004. A major issue remains: Not everything is available for public consumption, despite the fact that the 2001 production was canceled.

(Reminder to other BG webmasters: What I publish WILL be available to you to re-use on your own sites.)

As Titon would say, "It isn't over yet." And in some ways, that's a harbinger of why not everything will be released/showcased. We'll see.

This entire thread reminds me of something I wrote 11 years ago:

As for the negative ending of the Return of Starbuck, I say that he NEVER REALLY DIED and if Universal reallly wants to bring back the Apollo & Starbuck show, they can just have a rescue ship pick him up (from Commander Cain's Pegasus). I got it (music starts and intro about space gods and the human race......) Battlestar Pegasus: The Next Generation!

How about it? One of Tom Desanto's favorite episodes tied into Glen's pet story idea?

After Morre and Co. kill the Galactica name, the franchise can still survive with Battlestar Pegasus. The Galactica is destroyed but crew escapes on Pegasus, we have our continuation!

Sounds good, looks good, draws a harsh comparison to BG: lite.

Oh it makes the mini look silly if the real Starbuck pops up on the screen. Dirk knows what to do with a cigar, Katee holds it like a stick.

Now how to RETURN Apollo as in Richard Hatch, as a Colonial Warrior, not a Cylon?

If they only own the Galactica name, why not just change the name to Earthquest, or Destination Earth?

if it is the return of Starbuck you guys desire to change, what about this:

Starbuck is saved by Cain. in return, Cain wants Starbucks help in finding a superweapon that'll destroy the Cylons. (after all, why do you think he was at Gamoray.)

through Cain's puzzling, that weapon (remember, it is a superweapon, in other words use your imagination) is found. But before it is put to use, Cain is killed in a heavy Cylon attack.

realising that the weapon won't be of any use if they aren't around to use it, Starbuck orders it destroyed. He then takes command of the Pegasus and they escape sucessfully.

Now wheter or not bucko ever reaches the Galactica again I don't know yet.

I would hate it if the Galactica was destroyed. I'm too sentimental.

Yes, our wish list diminishes with time.........

I think that a continuation could work. Cain could find the fleet again or the other way around. I'd like to see them search for earth, but taking back the colonies would be ok.
I just want BSG back, one that is faithful to the Original. With the actors, elements and sotryline that made me fall in love with it a long time ago.

Destroy the Galactica? Who in their right mind would even think that? No!!!!!!

Well a lot of fans were upset when Nicholas Meyer destroyed the Enterprise in Search For Spock. Who is to say someone won't do that to Galactica?

Perhaps they'll rename the Pegasus to HMS Bounty...

ha, the destruction of the Enterprise lead to the Enterprise A. then Galactica 2.....

I'd rather never see a continuation if it will mean seeing the Galactica blow up. I'll just pretend I never read that :)

I'd like to see Jeff Bridges on the Pegasus. Now that it's to be a movie perhaps he would consider it.

Should we send him some mail? LOL;)

THAT'S IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Starbuck isn't dead. He is now commanding the Pegasus, and fast approaching the Galactica, now under the command of Apollo, who are almost at Earth.

There is a great fan-fic in three parts titled the Undefeated at Adam Stacey's site. It's all about Starbuck's rescue after the ROS episode. Cain rescues him and Starbuck has to learn to fit in under this new commander. He becomes sort of strike captain and there's this whole plot about retrieving a new improved battlestar that was secretly constructed by another race and financially backed by Cain and a few others from the Colonies.
Starbuck is given command of the new battlestar, I think it was called the Millennia, Tolen is given command of a new smaller ship called the Triton. The shipbuilders are automated and "improved" on the battlestar design to produce the Triton. I'll not give away the ending. It's a faithful to the series, well written and well thought out piece of fan-fic.

I think if Dirk Benedict is to be Starbuck in a continuation. Keep it simple. The Pegasus comes to the planet Starbuck is marooned on for 24 years. Cain by now is close to death from old age. Starbuck is rescued by the current crew of Pegasus, a handful of middle age original warriors and the rest are children of the crew. Starbuck holds date of rank on remaining crewmen other than Commander Cain. A dying Cain entrust the Pegasus and the lives of the crew to Starbuck. His last instructions to Starbuck are, "By the lords of Kobol find the Galactica, Earth and my daughter." Starbuck promises to complete the mission as Cain drifts away.

From there you have the perfect continuation with the old mythos intact but you won't need to find the old actors other than Dirk Benedict or figure out how to explain everyones life. Old Starbuck becomes the Adama figure and you pick out new actors with new names to be the Apollo, Starbuck, Sheba, Athena type figures. In the event the new series is successful I am sure you can have a reunion episode down the road with all the remaining original cast----Pegasus finds Earth and the Galactica. By eliminating the rag tag fleet you will reduce the cost of production on top of it all.

Just a thought, but if Universal only owns the name not the concept, why not change the name of the Galactica. How about naming it the ADAMA, at the moment of his passing, as a tribute to the heroic warrior who delivered his people from the cylon tyrany?

The same show, same ship, same cast, those that can be there plus a few new original characters.

And we need an upgraded muffit, but not too upgraded.

You're about to be "upgraded!" Does this mean "reimagined?" I hope not! I'll stick with the

What I mean is a not so dated looking Muffit but a recognizable one so we still know its the same Muffit.

I'm kind of hoping NOT to see our favorite battlestar buy the farm... the old girl's got a lot of fight left. I can see the Galactica being crippled and the Pegasus coming in to rescue her and the Pegasus covering Galactica until she can get repaired. Then, with 2 battlestars, we can see some cans of whoop-a.. on the Cylons!

Trever I think a "WORKING BIBLE" would help to put many
of the rumours to rest. I agree with you on that one.
