I know this should be no big deal, I know these are professionals who work in the same business but the picture makes me ill.

All that shows is that Dirk is a true gentleman.

to try and show that the "new" Starbuck is the same as the original Starbuck. Sorry, but that will NEVER happen!!!!!

It' amazing how they both look like men.

if you look closely, they are at Starbuck's drinking coffee. :)

Look at it from Dirk's point of view. Katee Sackhof never did anything to him. Never said a bad word about him. She never demeaned his performance. She was just an actor, like him, looking for whatever work she can get.

She hasn't really done anything to purposely insult the fanbase. She hasn't called us purists even.

The reason we have a female Starbuck is because Ron Moore thought it would be a cool idea. (those were his words).

We may not like how the character is written, or we may not like her performance, and I would be willing to bet the directing is awful. But they are just two actors enjoying some limelight.

I would like to point out that Dirk is looking good in that picture. Good enough to reprise his roll as a certain character with a name like a coffee place. :)

On the bright side, at least she has the same chin...

I get the whole tripple Starbuck idea but the photo still irks me. Perhaps if Katie had met Starbuck/Benedict earlier she might have learned how to protray the character...probably not. I don't have to like the idea of Dirk promoting this POS in December.

*wonders how the baristas reacted when those 2 cigars were brought out* I've never been to a Starbuck's that allowed smoking. hehe!

What Thomas said. the chin comment was hysterical though.

Dirk should stick with Tracy, she's much cuter and more feminine.... (hi Tracy, couldn't resist that, but you would be a better companion for coffee)

I second Jewels on Tracy. She is quite elegant. :)

The motion on Tracy has passed and is closed, she is funny, sweet and easy on the eyes. ;)

II have nothing against Katee or any actor or actress but Sci fi is milking this and it's funny that the biggest connection the new production has with Battlestar Galactica is a picture of Dirk sitting with Katee.

You people kill me with your love of Dirk Candonowrong Benedict and I’ve seen the same in regards to Richard Hatch.

Actors turn down roles and appearances all the time. Dirk can do what he wants but he knows how fans feel about the mini-series, he knows what where up against. If we get what we want in a Battlestar production it means WORK FOR HIM.

I don’t think he should have had a hand in giving this POS in December any legitimacy. I’m just disappointed and I have every right to be just like he has the right to pose with little Katie at Starbuck’s.

He could of turn down playing Starbuck in "Galactica 1980" He loves the role so much, maybe this will help land what we wont/? never know Paul

Food for thought (general ramblings and comments):

- Dirk didn't participate in Richard's "Second Coming" trailer for personal reasons, namely waiting for the production to be green-lit, rather than working on a promo reel. [Note: He would have reprised his Starbuck role. He plays by the "Hollywood rules": When the agent calls with the contract, works everything out, and he's on his marker, ready for the director to yell "Action!" THAT'S when he's actually participating. With all of the confusion with the BG property in 1998/1999, I know he wanted to stay clear of it until someone had the rights and was actually going into pre-production and had formally approached him.]

- Dirk was approached to be in the Singer/DeSanto BG production, although never signed. No one was. The show wasn't green-lit for actual production, just in development. He would have reprised his Starbuck role. Both he and Tom DeSanto talked at length about the character, as well as Dirk's interest to return.

- Dirk turned down the brief cameo role he was offered in the SCI-FI Channel BG series. (It was minimal pay, but that wasn't the reason he turned it down. I know.) Again, it was for personal reasons (besides the fact he would NOT have reprised his Starbuck role in the cameo).

I agree that Dirk needs to work like the rest of us; a paycheck is always useful, especially when he's a single father raising two boys. He can't be too picky about work. He does, however, stand his ground on certain things, including the mini. (Richard did the same.)

Something to understand about Dirk: He follows his inner voice; he has definite opinions on the mini-series; and he has a great sense of humor about things. He probably felt a sense of cosmic irony in having the opportunity to visit Starbuck's with Katie Sackhoff. (That's Dirk. He marches to the beat of his own drum. Damn the torpedoes!) I seriously doubt he did it as part of any career move or any intent to give it publicity to the new show.

Btw, I doubt Dirk is drinking coffee. Check that pic again. ;)

And, btw, Tracy (Dirk's webmaster) is professional modeling material compared to Katie S. [Said with the utmost respect to Tracy's husband. ;) I'm a happy married man here!] Tracy is a beautiful woman, tho.

I hated to hear people say that Tracy looked like the new Starbuck at Galacticon 2003. (Ack!) Only the blonde hair/hair style might have added a resemblance. Dirk certainly had fun with that at the event; methinks Tracy cringed far too much as a result. hehe

Michael,

Knowing Dirk as I do, I couldn't agree more with what you just said.
I was aware that Dirk was being interviewed by Scifi for this "Lowdown" special but it didn't irk me because I know his stance on the mini and so far, to my knowledge, he hasn't waivered from his views. I agree I don't think this was a deliberate publicity stunt on his part or to give the mini any added fuel.

Tracy :)

PS. He was drinking coffee when I saw him earlier that day ;) *Not* from "Starbucks" though!

Michael,

Thanks for the compliment. :)

Yep, nothing like being the running joke at a con! Now *that's* an experience I'll carry with me for the rest of my life! I'm glad *some* people had fun with it though, although I still can't see the resemblance. Ah well......:)
