OK I don't watch much T.V. anymore but today I caught myself watching SciFi channel for a few moments and i happened to see a comercial for the new series. I immediately ran for the P.C. and went to www.scifi.com and went to the BG site! OMG if the changes to the original are like they have been posted it will be interesting to watch... I was young when the original series aired (8-9ys old) but I loved the series so much that Dirk was forever starbuck and richard hatch was appolo (even though my mom watched adam 12 and emergency) when Dirk played Face in the A-Team after BG he was still Starbuck to me LOL.. I'm gonna watch the new series and see what it is like. I have been reading alot of NEGITIVE reviews about it already but here in the midwest i haven't had the oppertunity to see it yet so I'll wait and tell you what I think of it the night it airs!

I for one hope that it is a good mini series. I guess is thst if it failed would that cancel any hope of a contiuantion series? In any form? I would of loved & hoped of some sort of comback or a revival of the original! But movies always distort from the original no matter what!
Would the Galactica look the same? What about the theme music? All the stuff of BSG that we loved so much will be changed with this new series! I hope that in many ways this adaption is a good one! We need more scifi shows!
Scifi did a excellent version of the DUNE series! Which I bought the DVD's! I have to watch this new BSG mini with an open mind & see what happens!!

It could be good or bad. VERY hard to tell at this point.
The only thing we really know is that the new show has no respect for the old one or its fans. So that's where you are seeing alot of negativity.
The space battle scenes are looking to be pretty good. The special effects are suppose to be awesome.
Everything is VERY different. :)

O.K. so its NOT what I would have hoped for in a series or a mini.
However I will point out that it covered alot of backstory that was eluded to but not covered as indepth in the Original series. Not a Great effort but not as bad as it could have been. Guess we just have to Hope that the Mini gets better or that a series director will bring the show more to its roots. I do believe that Mr. Moore and his crew went more Asmov with the storyline then the original series and as a Asmov fan I am enjoying the series on a different level then I thought I would.
Its not the Original the Original was Great for what it was in its time.(a Time cut far too short) the New series....well maybe it should have been named after Asmovs' Books instead?

Ummm I guess you along with Moore have not seen much of the series. It CLEARLY states the origin of the Cylons in DETAIL in both Saga of A Star World and War Of The Gods!
They were once a race of lizard like men who fell under the influence of Count Iblis's temptations. He showed them an ideal society in which all the labor would be performed by thier machines. Unfortunatley the machines took over and the only real Cylons are the Imperious Leader models who seem to be lizard cyborgs programmed with Both Iblis's voice and intelligence.

Trever while I appreciate your viewpoint the Cylon backstory was not what I was refering to. and also as I pointed out in my previous post the creators of the new mini seem to have taken a Issac Asmov take to BSG... something that while interesting leeds one down the wrong trail of BSG fans and maybe they should have named the Mini after a Asmov Book instead of BSG...

I read the Moore's script about the "ORIGIN" of the cylons.
I watched the original series.
In the original series, the CYLONS invented the cylons to
fight their wars for them. At the time the 'cylons' sued
for a 'lasting PEACE' .........there were no CYLONS left;
ONLY the machines remained who were called CYLONS
after the 'race' that invented them.
In Moore's script - the colonies were warring amongst
theirselves and had invented the CYLONS in order to
fight their wars for them.
See the difference here?
If you have any doubts go to the 2003 mini series sites
and read the interviews and the reviews of the scripts
for yourself.
And as for OLMOS saying that the "REMAKE" is more
MILITARY then the ORIGINAL series .........well
with his political beliefs, I would expect "HIM" to
say that.

I know. Here Ron Moore is claiming to put an "original" spin on the cylons, when all he did was take the back story and turn that into the emphasis of the new mini.
Idiot.
