Has anyone heard how well the DVD set is selling? I hope it makes a ton of money so that Universal will finally get the message that Battlestar Galactica TOS is a viable franchise ( I hate that term) that has an avid fanbase.

Bijou88,
I found this site but, the information is only through the week of September 16-22. They're apparently on vacation until sometime next week. We may want to check this site after that:
http://www.boxofficemojo.com/dvd/
Hope it helps.

I really planned on buying two copies/collections (and at two different stores), just to show my support and appreciation for this Godsend but I'm strapped for $$$ so I'll have to put that off a while. Hopefully it will continue to be available and/or re-offered in another version.

Saw 2 copies left (of a case of 5-6) at one of the local Sam's clubs on Sat. (it was something like $76.99 there by the way).
I had to keep telling myself they will be here in UPS Monday....I can wait until Monday.....

I was in my local Costco's today where they had one set remaining. The price was $78.00. Yesterday I was at BJ's who had no sets available for purchase.

When I first went to Wally world they had about 4 or 5 sets of the DVDs out, when I went back a couple days ago, they had only one set left. And they are priced at $99 there. I guess they are selling!

Best Buy went from having 15 sets available to 1 left. How is that for progress? The Walmart Supercenter just received theirs.

Region 4......oh yeah that's us! God bless all the Aussie Galactica fans. They mightn't bother posting on the websites like this one, but WE ARE OUT THERE TOO!!! LISTEN UP UNIVERSAL!!!:D
Ah, Australia, keeper of the sacred mint-condition original episodes appearing on those DVDs for all these years! (feeling a little patriotic today)
One of those pre-orders is mine. 2 weeks to go. Yay!

I saw only 1 copy of the DVD anywhere at the mall. I looked for the game in about three stores and I couldn't find it last week, but online retailers are selling it.

After a long and fruitless search, I found that there is a service which apparently does give the total DVD sales of just about any product. It is called Nielsen Videoscan. Unfortunately, it looks like you have to purchase a subscription service to it to get any data.
Hope this helps...

Does anyone have knowledge of how many disc sets were pressed in the first place?
Also,is there more than one version for sale now?

At first I heard that 100 000 were made and that's all that would be made but I think it surprised them when they all sold.
That's probably why they got scared and actually advertised the mini so much. They spent so much time thinking that we were so few and it wouldn't mater what they did with the show. They didn't realize that the online petition with all the umpteen sites and boards represented a much larger number of people.
Lets face it, if the mini made them money hand over fist, they would have found the money to do a series already. Plus lets think of those that watched it and didn't like it.
Back to the DVD, A second version is on it's way but it won't have the Cylon face sticking out. Universal is making money off the box set and I think they won't stop until that cash cow has been milked dry.
I also imagine that there is some one some where in a high up position kicking them selves in the but for not realizing that a new show that brought back more of what the fans wanted, would have been an even bigger cash cow.
This show has a huge fan base and there is only so long you can fool them but at least they did the DVD box set right and they can reap the benefits for that one.

I think when Amazon seemed to have sold their allotment of the 100,000 the first day (remember when you could order and a few hours later the link was toast for 2-3 days?) I think that's when the original series got their attention. I'm sure when they started getting notes from the online DVD sellers that they were shipping X thousands to Region 2 and Region 4 it started sinking in. When the video game went gold in pre-order: more impact.
I can only hope that Mr. Larson has access to hard sales figures and that he still talks to Tom DeSanto. Sometimes maintaining your golden touch is nothing more than knowing who to hand your car keys to at the right time. Look at Speilberg and Dreamworks. ;)

"gold" can mean different things in context of pressing discs.
What exactly do you mean here?

I'm sure when they started getting notes from the online DVD So jewels I ordered my Galacticon stuff, how about an update, Richard Hatch is the reason we are here, I’ll drink to his health & perchance see YOU, too?
I peeked in on Oct. 21 BSG: TCES was # 11 in DVD sales, that mini had the artwork up but is not available, oh just read the mini's reviews @ amazon, oh my! (I posted in a few doosies) I’m so bad, oh it feels so good! (someone here posted she saw TOS DVD @ # 10 @ amazon)
MGM can count better than Universal, ah this could be sweet, as the megalomaniac character of Captain Ahab, in Herman Melville’s Moby Dick; the screenplay written by Ray Bradberry. It was changed in The Wrath of Khan, the megalomaniac character Khan said “Do you know the Klingon proverb that tells us revenge is a dish that is best served cold?”
If fanboy DeSanto gets it, I positive Dirk shall reprise Starbuck, just think of the headlines the cable series created by Ronnie’s chick Starbuck made. Holy have a cow, just think, The Real Starbuck could be rescued from that BG: 80 planet he was marooned on?!? Something good from BG: 80, go figure? Now Apollo, Sheba, Boomer where on that ‘Being of Light’ ship, or also got marooned, nah. This is like that TV show some guy got outta a shower & poof, an entire season was gone?
The Guy Starbuck, reprising that role HE MADE FAMOUS would make bigger headlines, Ron D. Moore would have helped, yet even sweeter!
jewels we might be on a good idea, best spread this about, ‘eh?
I MISSED THIS ONE, FROM THE LAND OF THE MAD MAX-ROAD WARRIOR & FARSCAPE!
