Remember everyone, if the mini becomes popular then Moore and Hammer will want to push the mini and try to hamper anything that detracts from it. That means THEY would not want to see the old BG become a competitor.
HOWEVER, THEY don't own the movie rights to a continuation. Larson does. So all it will take really is for Larson to find a backer for his project. That doesn't have to be Hammer, or Universal. It can be any studio wanting to jump on the scifi bandwagon. Anyone wanting to jump on the bandwagon after seeing the mini take off well.
yup. its an insane idea. But this IS Hollywood. oh and Newt- I LOVE the crossing the streams analogy. :D
Watch or don't watch. Don't really matter. But do support the fact that BG is great and you would gladly buy a movie ticket to see it again.

were pop icons at one time....Cylons being the biggest one IMHO. At one time everyone knew what the Cylons were. BSG is like a sleeping giant, and if by stealing it, SciFi then re-awakens it, wouldn't it be poetic if Larson could steal it back? It would almost make up for when ABC kept meddling with it.

Didn't Larson say he was going to do a remake of the remake? I think I recall him saying that.

A Larson Battlestar Galactica movie would almost certainly be a Universal Studios movie. I seem to have it in my minds eye that Larson would need to stay with Universal, maybe for distribution who knows what knots lawyers tie in those famous small print of contracts. Plus Larson’s Battlestar Galactica was shown as a Universal Studios movie & as telemovies,
Not just Moore, Eick and Rymer would like to see this mini go to a series, like most of the Actors have nothing listed past: "Battlestar Galactica" (2003)
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0314979/
Universal owns StudiosUSA & The Scifi Channel, Universal is letting Scifi contract out ‘Aces and Eights’ to Battlestar Galactica lite for TV, Universal isn't big in TV like Warner Brothers, Paramount or Disney.
I also remember Ronald D. Moore had eight episodes (not to be confused with the eight part mini script) All eight where posted on Scifi's then UN-moderated Battlestar Galactica Board, then quickly deleted.
So Scifi really was watching, probably still are, maybe even here, now? If so
a big *SPOILER* below................

Sounds a bit odd, I guess 'the remake' was on everyone's mind?

If Larson is planning on remaking the mini remake, then that's just too much for me. I was psyched the mini is being made, then disappointed a bit it was not only not a continuation but totally different. But it's "BSG" so I'll take it (it's been 25 years!). If Larson decides to remake the remake, what would be the point? The original is good enough to make a continuation off of. Why can't he just remaster it, add back all the ABC cuts, unchange the changes that ABC did and put that on the big screen? Then a month later come out with a continuation? That I'll support, but I won't support a remake of the remake. That's just too weird....even for me. :)

Westy,
Slow down......I'm sorry if you misinterpreted the remark, the point of view remark was meant for humor, nothing else. (don't forget the smilies!!) The mention of 'remaking the remake' I interpret in broad terms, not the literal sense. What Larson may have meant with the remark is that, figuratively, the story would have to go back to square-one, in terms of re-acquanting the audience with TOS, not to literally re-do the entire original storyline.
Now, take a deep breath, exhale....good!

That's ok, I was just being a little "devilish" with my "remark". :D

I think Larson was pulling a pun with the remaking the remake remark, just IMHO.
Whatever he got legal separation and paid for: I think it frees him go wherever he wants to go for the movie. Wait for the mini to air (I doubt the movie announcement will happen before Dec 10th, if he really wants to work with Tom D.)

He was definitely joking with the remake the remake remark. :)
remember, he had been lightly drinking for an hour and a half by then. :D

Perhaps it would have been more clear if Larson had said that he planned to "unimagine the reimagining."

saying he *could* remake the remake as in he can do whatever he wants. So it was hypothetical. got it

yup just a joke.
though remember, he did create bg from nothing. And all this reimagining was done without his blessing. So if you think about it, if you had created something, and someone changed it and made it offensive (remember larson hates obsenity), wouldn't you see how he refer to remaking a remake?
