I wanted to let everybody know that I'm going to be having a little extra fun this November, and it might very well be I'm not going to have a lot of time to post.

I'm signed up to take part in something of a contest - the National Novel Writing Month. In a nutshell, the object is to write a novel in 30 days. The goal is 50,000 words (about a third a novel, actually, but "National Novella Writing Month" doesn't have the same ring).

The fun part is that the novels don't have to be good, coherent, or anything like that. The entire goal of the month is quantity, not quality. 50,000 words on sewage treatment would be as valid as the next Great American Novel. The only goal is writing 50,000 words in 30 days.

www.nanowrimo.org is the site. Check it out if you're curious (the FAQs are funny, but informative).

My wife did it last year and had so much fun we're both doing it this year (although I don't know who's cooking this time).

My novel is called "In Space, No One Can Hear You Sing 'Aida'". I might be able to post an excerpt there, once I get going (Midnight, Saturday).

So wish me luck!

50000 words in 30 days huh?

I'll have to count and see how many words I normally write a month, lol.

Good luck, oh Dawgy one!

US only, right? Ah well... I'm already working on a novel right now anyway. :)

World-wide, Proximo. It's only called "National" because it started as a more local event a few years ago and grew incredibly.

I'm pumped, too - it's gonna be great!

Dawg I love your posts. I can't wait to see what you come
up with for the contest I know it will be fantastic! You don't
need luck Dawg. You need more self confidence because I
and everyone else here already KNOW you CAN and WILL do IT!
