CFQ aka Cinefantastique had a great 15 page on the real Battlestar Galactica...pick it up. Has anyone a clue what thier take is on the mini-series?

Oh yeah, they are so close. From her point of view "The spirit of the character is still the same. Starbuck still has a smart mouth and a fun - loving spirit. Starbuck still smokes cigars and drinks, and is still the best viper pilot around."

Yep, that's it all right. Starbuck is nothing more then smoking and drinking....

No, of course, The Original Starbuck was not in the least confused or angry. He furiously launched a verbal attack on Athena and Adama for leaving the battle at Cimtar before he knew the extent of the Cylon attack. He impulsively volunteered Blue Squadron to "take out that gun" on Ice Planet Zero and almost refused to give up on Cree and follow in after those cadets that were under his command. He also threw the information cassette that he and Boomer had recorded of the pulsar on Athena's station in front of Adama, who sarcastically said "Thank you, Lt." Starbuck was frustrated and angry that he'd lost those cadets under his command. The new Starbuck does seem to be missing the sneaky and con artist aspects of TOStarbuck. He manipulated the computer system to arrange his inclusion on the mission for IPZ in order to have a chance to save his lost cadets!
All the new Kara does is start a fight with one of her commanding officers. THAT does NOT show a deep attachment to the military that Katee says she found in the character or script. It sounds like she's just trying to be butch. TOStarbuck would have found a way to expose such a flawed leader if it was damaging to missions, but he would have done it covertly. To him, as long as you did your job well, the rest shouldn't matter. After all, he was a maverick himself!
Stick a cigar in her mouth to shut her up! Dirk almost got canned because those cigars were HIS idea, and only after viewers (women) responded positively were they kept as part of his character!
My venting for today! Katee always gets me riled up! My blood pressure must be skyrocketing!

But the main difference between the two Starbucks is that my Starbuck is a lot more angry and confused; a lot of things from her past are affecting the way that she acts now.

It's a shame that she really believes this garbage. She couldn't be further from the truth.
