I watched the season finale of SG-1 and was shocked. Two Jaffa shook hands but it wasn't an ordinary handshake. It was the same one like on BG. Ever notice that the Goa'uld Gliders look like Cylon Raiders. How about Daniel's assension? If Galactica 1980 had continued we would have seen Starbuck assended to the ship of Lights as a Being of Light. And they have the nerve to say no remembers BG.

Kingfish, lets analyse this a little further shall we. Stargate the movie utilised Egyption mythology and religious icons in order to fuel it's plot.

On Galactica the most prominent religious myths and folklore's were eyption in origin. It was even in the very beginning during Lorne Greens monologue. The name mentioned first is the Ehyptions.

Also added to that the egyption type heroglyths were embost on the the Galactica and Pegasua helmets which the pilots wore. However to crash the party entirely here, Galactica is not unique in it's use of ancient mythologys. Star Wars did it only very subtly, which is why Lucas never won the copyright case. However Galactica was a little less subtle and also utilised astrology in order to describe the different tribes of man. Caprican = Capricorn, I am a Capricorn so that makes me a pure blooded Kobolian so don't mess with me, or I will use my mental abillities to bend you spoon uri geller style lol. Gemonese = Gemini. So Galactica used a hell of a lot of those sort of things. Which is why a lot of none fans have a hard time with it. Basically because they have to studie a little bit in order to find out where some of the refferences are coming from.

However Stargate cannot really help using refferences to ancient civilisations, because if you look at the original concept of the series which was adapted from the movie. You will find that all the refferences that they used were just a natural progression of the movie. Hell they have even taken on Thor the Viking god, and done stories revolving around Vahalla and some great stuff like that. To a huge extent mythological stuff like that on Stargate SG 1 serves as a means to save money.

Also when you look at SG 1 you will find that the only visual effect is constisantly used is the actual Gate opening and closing unless they are in a space batte, but those space battles are usually only used for season finale's meaning that the show is cost effective and relatively cheap for them to make. Basically because it does not depend on to many optical effects. However do not expect to see a 9th series of SG-1 I personally do not think it will happen.
