Another case of censorship over at the Skiffy Outhouse --

The following was a my response to the "Wait and See" thread by lkn2pla of 08-18-03.

My reply was made last night (08-19-03) at 10:04 pm.

********* My reply **********

kruptedseed, I understand what you are saying. For me, knowing what I know about the script and having it confirmed, by Ron Moore, that the vast majority of the draft script will be in the final product, I don't need to watch it.

You see, I base my opinion on CONTENT, not VISUALS. I don't need to SEE what I am not pleased with reading. I truly do not like the direction that Ron Moore has taken BSG.

Before being stereotyped as a "disco-loving worshipper of 70's hair", let me elaborate just a bit. What many Continuation proponents, myself included, wished for was a "thoughtful" continuation of the story set sometime in the 25 year period that followed the last episode of the Original Series, The Hand of God. We knew the story would not pick up the day after Apollo and Starbuck received the Gold Cluster, for their efforts to sabotage the Cylon Basestar.

We wanted an accounting for the passage of time. Most of all, we wanted to see THEIR adventures continued. We wanted to see if THEY ever found Earth. We wanted to have more of the Colonial back-history explained. We wanted to see how the Good vs. Evil theme played out, and don't kid yourself, there is NO GRAY AREA.

Good and Evil are like a light switch, it's either On or Off. There is no in-between.

That is what I wanted to see. That is what WILL NOT be included in Ron Moore's version of Battlestar Galactica. Mr. Moore and Mr. Eick claim to have tried very hard to make the mini-series more "realistic".

My suggestion is that they watch the news and pay close attention to the events in other parts of the world, like the Middle East, like Northern Africa, like the Pacific Rim. That is REAL. What's included in this mini-series just doesn't make the grade, for realism. Tell me how realistic it is for a man, like Baltar, of the mini-series, to have betrayed his ENTIRE civilization for the reasons that he did. Power, as a "motivator" in the Original Series was more believable.

There are also other items that I do not care for, in the mini-series, and rather than go into them detail by detail, I will categorize them as being misrepresentative, or being used as only a "teaser" or for advertising purposes.

BST -

I can't really even see why this didn't make it... I've seen posts a lot more controversial make it under the scanners as of late. I don't see any rhyme or reason to Skiffy's moderators. I wish that they would post some guidelines for posting - that way everyone would have some idea as to what is considered acceptable by their "standards".

Good post by the way....!

I honestly don't understand what their criteria is for what is posted and not posted. A number of anti-Hammer messages actually made it through. Heck, even my test message which I sent yesterday made it through. Part of me thinks that they have given up trying to control what people are discussing at SciFi. If that's the case, then it's for the better. Because I will choose an unmoderated forum over a moderated one any day.

What the frak is going on over at the Skiffy board? They are actually posting my responses, QUICKLY, and I'm not necessarily being kind.
