Let’s face it, gals love to play with their hair. Mainly because it’s there. When I was little, my mom was no exception. She must’ve tried every hair color known to woman, and then some. This had some undesirable side effects – like for instance a driver’s license picture. You see, my mom had naturally light blonde hair but dyed it jet black for awhile. And it happened to be black right at the time she had her driver’s license renewal picture taken. Ok, so what’s the problem?
The problem was, for the next 5 years she had to explain to everyone who asked for her license that yes, it really was her. I remember sitting in a shopping cart as a little kid and watching the debate at the check-out counter. “Yes, it’s me”. “But it doesn’t look like you. The hair is all wrong”. Yadda, yadda. Trying to convince someone that something that doesn’t look like you is you can be a trying thing.
Which brings me to my real point, BSG. How will we recognize the new mini as BSG? It has the name, yes, but so much is different. Even the main character Starbuck has been dyed into a woman. The essence is gone. And we long-time fans are left asking, how can something so different be the same? This is definitely not what we remember.
Years came and went and a new license picture was taken of my mom, so all became right with the world again. My question is, how much time will pass before a new BSG looks like my old BSG? The one I loved?
And that my BSG friends begs the question, do blondes really have more felgercarb?
