They Say Lightning Doesn't Strike Twice

Greetings,

...but this time it struck one and one-half times. How? On July 30th, I completed the installation of Invision Power Board 1.2 Release Candidate 1 on our brand-new web hosting server. This was after our previous server failed. Now, for about 2 months we've been waiting for IPB 1.2 Release Candidate 2 (Two!) to come out. Anticipated in RC2 were major updates as well as the new portal system, entitled IPDynamic Lite. After waiting about 2 months, guess what came out just hours after I installed RC1? RC2!!! So this morning I took the forums offline for 4 hours (from 5 AM to about 9 AM EDT) and once again installed Invision Power Board from scratch. Fortunately it only took 4 hours, which is record time-- To install, configure, and test the software, do the skinning for our custom Battlestar Galactica theme, and install a half-dozen customizations (aka 'hacks'). It took a lot less time than when I installed RC1 last week because I kept very extensive notes of the installation process and all customizations that I made. So it was a fairly quick process to repeat all the RC1 steps from last week and do the same for RC2. So, the forums are online with the latest full-featured version of Invision Power Board. You can utilize the following two domains to access the forums. I appreciate your patience, and hope you enjoy the new features!

Our sub-domain is now online:

http://forums.battlestargalacticaclub.com

Or you can access the forums directly at:

Greetings,

You may have noticed that the forums went offline around 4:30 PM on Tuesday July 6th. The reason why is that one of the tables in the database was 'locked'. It was the ibf_sessions table that stores the username of those that are currently logged into the forums. I haven't heard back from my web host yet, so I created a second copy of the database, without the ibf_sessions table. I then re-created that one table from scratch. All of the other 87 tables were fine and did not need to be re-created, including member accounts, messages, topics, replies, etc. I'm waiting to hear back from my web host as to how the table 'locked' itself in the first place. Until then, and if it should happen again, please reply via e-mail and I'll reset the ibf_sessions table in the database to restore access. I apologize for the inconvenience, and will find out from my web host why this occurred in the first place.
