Now I am not on the council but here is an idea. Roswell is going to be released in 2004. http://tvshowsondvd.com/newsitem.cfm?NewsID=555
Since this is a Ronald D Moore production BOYCOTT it!!!!! If Moore wants to ruin Galactica then this is one step we can take as fans.

I don't think Moore was involved with all seasons of Roswell, he just ran it into the ground. I never watched the show myself so I wouldn't bother with the DVDs anyway. I did however cancel my pre-orders for the DS9 box sets last December and I loved that show. I will never support anything the man touches ever again.

Hi everybody,
I also feel bad about supporting anyone involved with the mini. I did not buy the Xena or Hercules DVD's from Universal because David Eick was executive producer there. I wonder how he got so caught up in this Battlestar Galactica mini travesty. He also had a hand in American Gothic, a series I also loved. Previously, he seemed to have pretty good taste! What happened? I wonder if he owed someone or maybe they were blackmailing him? HA, HA!
cheers,
Carolyn

I've been thinking about this since I read it yesterday, AO. I decided that I think you are doing yourself and the ST franchise a disservice by not buying the DS9 DVD sets. Buying those is not supporting Moore, it is supporting DS9.
Yes, Moore had a lot to do with DS9. He also had a lot to do with the latter years of TNG. But he was under the supervision of Gene Roddenberry and Rick Berman and was limited to their vision of what it should be. And, he put out some fine work under their watchful eye.
His material went south, so to speak, when somebody gave him free reign. My understanding is that Moore came into Roswell near the end and ran it into the ground, because he was given control. He has taken the shell of BSG and look what he did to it, because he was given control.
Don't let this present situation stop you from expressing your support for Star Trek, and prevent you from acquireing the permanent remembrance of a show you loved.
You're also buying the BSG DVD set, aren't you?

Well Dawg, it's my decision and mine alone. I'm certainly not telling anyone else not to buy anything. But what it basically boils down to is Ron Moore will receive some of my money if I buy those DVDs. We're just talking about pennnies I know, but I'll be damned if the man receives even one of my pennies.

Will he? How far down the chain do royalties go? I know the actors' (and writers'?) contracts frequently give them royalty payments the first few times an episode is aired, but producers? And how do the royalty payments on the DVD sets work?
That's a serious question, by the way. I don't know. But I'll be surprised if the studio itself doesn't get the lion's share of proceeds.
I am a fan of Star Trek - TNG saved my life (or at least my sanity - real life was crazy then), and I followed DS9 each week, too (and I must be in the minority in liking the Dominion War story arc). I just hate to see you deprive yourself, AO, even if I do agree in large part with your thinking.

Moore will recieve royalties for the sale of episodes which he wrote. It's only pennies. Probably a quarter per box set sold or something. But it's the principal. I don't care how small amount of my money is going to him, I just won't have it. And there are plenty of box sets coming out this year for me to spend my money on, so I don't feel deprived.

Many PVR units report back to thier manufactures on what it is you watch. If you have one of these units besure it is watching something othere than SciFi on Dec 7.
