Looks like Olmos doesn't care to support the mini either. :D Or else Bonnie's afraid he'll have another public attack of honesty and told him not to come.
Found the following here:

The last sentence is the important one.
July 22, 2003 - COMIC-CON: BATTLESTAR GALACTICA gets noticed: Panel presents the new trailer for the mini-series - Cinescape - Last Friday at the San Diego Comic-Con The Sci-Fi Channel hosted a panel promoting their upcoming relaunch of BATTLESTAR GALACTICA, a four-hour mini-series starring Edward James Olmos and Mary McDonnell. In attendance were stars Jamie Bamber (Apollo), Katee Sackoff (Starbuck), Tricia Helfer (Number Six), screenwriter Ronald Moore (STAR TREK: DEEP SPACE NINE) and producer David Eick. Edward James Olmos had been promised to attend but was a no-show.

Olmos was pulled a few days before; a Latino festival of some sort he has supported over the years was held on the same weekend. The official word was a scheduling conflict.
The timing of his backing out was funny, though - I have a sneaking suspicion that good old Bonnie let him pass on the ComicCon obligation and told him to go to the festival instead for obvious reasons.
:D
(BTW, Coxxon, be careful at that particular website - no telling what you might catch.)
 Did I say that?
 Bad Dawg. Bad Dawg.

There is a write up about that panel on the scifi web site:

I wish I hadn't had to miss comic-con this year but I was chasing a flying octopus in New York, http://www.rnews.com/images_story/ballonsculpture.jpg
Maybe next year there will be talk of a real BG continuation.

Jamie has learned to play the big game. And EJO wasn't there to speak his piece himself...convenient.
Cool octopus, Artemis. Quite a kite design!

Besotted? Drunk?
Screw you Bamber! We as a whole were asking for NEW High concepts with a new approach, we just wanted the new productuion to USE the the same characters and where available actors!
Read what this "Paid" actor said:
But Bamber politely disagreed with his castmate(Olmos). "I think there's a lot of truth in what Eddie says, in that if you absolutely are besotted with what was made in the '70s, then maybe the relationship is so founded between you and that show, that any reimagining is going to be strange for you," he said. "But at the same time, I disagree with Eddie. ... I understand what he was trying to say.
Screw this guy and all others,we have for our entire lives, been forced to change because that is how our counrty is. Dont sit there and try to say we dont want change. You going to make change,do it and make it something we can sink our teeth into, dont give us "Killer Bannanas from Space" with a bleak twist and try to pass it off as something we like.
Crap is Crap!
Quincy Jones Composer and lyicist of "The WIZ" was quoted "It's like trying to polish shit" meaning the music for the motion picture. I get the feeling the new fans who are giving it a try are doing just that.
Sorry for the knee jerk reaction rantl, its been a while but it sure feels good.
Rich
P.S. that flying Otopus is how i see Moores script.

You think they will give a write up on Richard Hatch's presentation at the con? If there were a 1000 people at the BG03 panel there must have been standing room only at Hatch's.
p.s. The octopus was made out of balloons and a friend of mine was on top flying attached to it with another set of balloons.

About not going to that "other" BSG site? They say you keep your friends close...but keep your enemies even CLOSER!!!!
I check in over there every day to see what they are up to. Funny thing is if you check in at their forum, there is only 5 people posting! Seems like a real big success this new production and its accompanying fan sites...

RDMoore and crew had a 6 hour power meeting just to agree on the shade of color for it.
Burning minds at work over there!

Of course Olmos wasn't there. The timing is tooooooo convenient. Hammer is trying to keep her head attatched, something which will become harder when this piece of daggit mong flops.

Olmos, is out, he did his best to distance himself from the coming storm. While Bonnie and company are trying to put on the best face they can, the truth is once this thing of theirs airs - the you know what will hit the fan. Most fans are still not aware of what is coming and when they do see it there will be a strong reaction. Almos has allready picked up on this and is putting as much distance as he can from the new mini and SciFi.
We also need to keep in mind the owners of Universal will change in January. There will be no guarentee's as to wheather or not a series will even be considered.

I think that OLMOS has more in integrity in his ONE FINGER
then BAMBER has PERIOD. And as for MISSCONGENIALITY,
she can take a flying leap to where the sun doesn't shine.
Who knows maybe when the SH*& hits the fan ......
SHE WILL.
