I must say, the Richard Hatch chat session on irc was a complete success. I've never seen that many BSG fans in one place talking about something I have a passion for. Darrell even invited me to help out with the channel administration, which he didn't have to do...seeing he never knew who I was.

What can I say about Richard Hatch?! The man is simply a real down to earth guy, laid back and relaxed. He handled himself with the uttmost professionalism and patience in responding to the many questions. I can only imagine everybody getting to meet him in person (maybe one day I'll get to meet him when he comes to Hawaii again).

Darryll, if you need help in anything...let me know! As time permits (and my knowledge), I'll help out the Battlestar Galactica family as best I can.

JJ, great avatar!

I have to say that was a very annoying chat room. Not the chat itself, but the room. All I had on my screen was a light brown box that I stared at for a few minutes, waiting to see something. Finally, for no good reason, I clicked on the minimize box in the upper right and a new window popped up, with the chat going on. But there was no box to type into! At least I could read what was going on. Kind of frustrating, though.

I had a wonderful time last night! I popped in early to make sure that I got in. Richard showed up early too - that was a treat in itself... We're gonna have to get that man a case of "Pete's Ale" for Galacticon! A buddy of mine says that it is a pale ale and he highly recommends trying it...

I used mIRC to access the chat session - I didn't have any luck using the other methods and I was sort of familiar with IRC, so it was very easy. Even so, I could "see" everyone that was there. I think that there must have been 30-40 people in there at one point!

My congrats to Darrell and the others that were trying to keep everything flowing - it got kinda chaotic now and then, but finally managed to get a system to where the chat was more organized and easy for everyone to follow.

To begin with, this was my first BSG chat and it was lots of fun listening to our Mr. Hatch answer our questions and state a few topics of his own. There were quite a few that hung around after RH left - we had a nice "after chat" session going for a while. It was great to talk to some of you in "realtime" for a change.

I got the impression that this chat was to be the first of many - I look forward to many more future BSG chat sessions!

All the best,
Bryan

I enjoyed it a lot too. It was bit noisy and confusing at times and hard to follow the amount of questions and comments being put forth. I am grateful that Richard responded to at least three of the four comments/questions I made. BTW, I am the dimwit who couldn't figure out how to change his user name in the chat. First I was Guest 789 (I think), then "newnicknam", then "The 14th".

I must admit I was beginning to suspect that maybe Richard was "compromising" his values on BG when he invited the Moore people
to the 25th anniversary but his statements on the chat convinced me this is not the case.
