As I said elsewhere...

This guy is not a sci-fi fan. Notice all the Trek references in the article, the kind of laugh-up-the-sleeve tone.

This guy doesn't deserve any more publicity.

But at least he wrote about it- I haven't seen Word One in my paper. I'm going to try to do something about that....

To be honest the writer comes across as a normal everyday guy. This is his opinion.

And to be brutally honest... there are alot of people out there with this opinion. This is the battlegrounds we wage war on. We can't be living in a imaginary world where the world will one day embrace us and all we have to do is be true and we will be given redemption and a new galactica done right.

It ain't the case. Though that's not to discredit the truth of our cause. We ARE right.

But we have to work hard. And we have to work smart to get what we want. And that means presenting to the world an image of us as mainstream. We can't be a "fanatical fringe".

We have to convince guys like this that its not the feelings of a fanatical few. But that most people won't like the changes. That america as a whole as this sleeping love of an old forgotten friend. And this new wannabe can't fill their shoes. Not because its an impossible thing to do, but because we are being given inferior merchandise with a designer tag cheapily glued on.
