I was really amazed at how strongly the Olmos statement was. We heard snippits of it, but nothing conveyed the strength of the Great Olmos Rebellion!
It was also funny to hear Hammers rather weak attempts to not have this such a public relations nightmare. I bet she was screaming her ass at Olmos afterwards making alot of threats. And I be Olmos laid into her back. Boy he was very angry.
Hammer and Moore don't realize the anger they are stoking up with their callous attitudes toward the fans of galactica. And there are hundreds of thousands of us. Alot more than this tiny little forum represents.

I wrote an e-mail to him:
Dear Mr. Olmos:
I wanted to send a note conveying a heart-felt “Thank you” for your honesty and comments regarding the upcoming airing of “Battlestar Galactica” on the Sci-Fi Channel.
First of all, I am sorry that you have been receiving messages critical of your participation in this miniseries. As I am sure you understand, though, you are in many respects one of the “faces” associated with this production. However, your honesty with fans who have been extremely disappointed in virtually every aspect of this production has garnered you a high level of respect, even among the most vocal of those angered by this production.
I would caution that the most critical messages (and 99% of any genuine “hate mail”) you may have received were quite possibly authored by just a couple of people bent on portraying the Galactica fanbase in the worst possible way. On several of the Battlestar Galactica discussion websites, 50 or more separate identities have been created by two or three individuals (they have been identified) in order to cause problems among the legitimate fans of the original series; apparently they have impersonated production staff and law enforcement personnel, leveled false accusations of cyberterrorism, published legally privileged information, and engaged in other legally and ethically questionable activities. The reasons they did so are presently a matter of conjecture, but there are some who contend that they are doing so at the behest of either the company producing the upcoming video game, or someone at a high level at The Sci-Fi Channel, in order to artificially inflate the level of interest in the miniseries (basically, creating a non-existent fanbase). I don’t know, but based on the extent and nature of their activities to date I suspect there is more to the story than we will ever fully know.
In short, please know that among the “true” fans of Battlestar Galactica your honest words are appreciated and respected.

I sent this last evening, and I got a reply overnight.
Edit: Like the excitable fool I am, I breached basic etiquette and posted her reply. She is a nice lady, and rightfully called me on it. Mea culpa. I have offered my apologies.

I tried to send a short, polite thank you note to EJO through her as well, but first I got a message saying delivery was delayed, and then the next day my message bounced.
I was disappointed, I wanted to do my part to counter whatever bad impression Mr. Olmos and his people might have formed of us.
Perhaps I'll give it a second try.
