The Q factor refers to Quincy M.E. which began its's run in 1976 two years before BG. I wonder if Glen was preoccupied with this show when it came around to doing BG. Quincy outran both BG and Galactica 1980. It also won a number of Emmy nominations, 5 in all. CBS carried the series so this was probably one of the reasons they didn't come along when Glen's other series BG was prematurely and I say prematurely cancelled.

I enjoyed watching Quincy for the science aspects and for his interaction with Dr. Ashton (what a way to run a coroner's office!). Larson had a number of things in the works during this time, and a significant staff of writers, directors, and producers, so I'm not sure if it really affected BG to any great extent. Larson is listed as Creator and Executive Producer, but I don't think he wrote for the series on a regular basis.

Quincy, M.E., started out as part of NBC's (not CBS, but Kingfish's comment still applies) rotating group of mysteries with McCloud, Columbo, McMillan and Wife, and others, before soon becoming a weekly series on NBC. A good source of info on Quincy, M.E., can be found at

Incidentally, fans never discovered Quincy's first name. The FAQ at the above website gives the details of this one unsolved mystery from the series.

Quincy fan of old,

Lucian

Larson did Quincey? Actually, as much as I like CSI, I do have certain momentarty momments of nostalgia for a medical-examiner-show that didn't always have to show all the details.

Quincy was a very good show for its time! I'm not sure if it do well today, our viewing tastes have changed somewhat, but it I did love it. Jack Klugman had a determined intensity and a bit of a roguish quality to him. Very likable.

btw you mentioned BG was done by him. But don't forget that other Larson show on at the same time- Buck Rogers!
