Some highlights:
"...we didn't know much about the new series until quite recently except that it was a 'remake' and we didn't want to contradict it or the original series too much but rather build onto a franchise - and creating a history for the series which works with both new and old seemed appropriate. We're only human.
HomeLAN - Finally is there anything else you wish to say about Battlestar Galactica before we wrap this up?
John Mamais - Maybe another hint about the nature of the story - is that we really liked the Count Iblis character in the original series - and we've tried to build in some of those mythological underpinnings to help explain the origin of the Cylons."
I recommend reading the whole interview.
These guys have got it together! THIS is a prequel, and it's compatible with the original, unlike the remake.
